Gusts to 55-60

Post by skyboltone »

Just settin' here onboard today, wastin' time. Canvas blowin' off other boats, water tryin' to get in everwhere pouring down in horizontal sheets. Good day to be tied up to the dock. Ahhhhh the mariner's life.

I guess it is the rainy season in SF, isn't it? What's the temp?
Sounds like a good day to sleep in. Those gusts ought to rock you to sleep 8)

Yes we have three or more storm systems all lined up to pound the left coast.
Up here in the valley they have high wind warnings out.
Gusts to 55 mph are expected.
While that isn't that strong of a wind, with as much rain as we have had the ground is already saturated making trees a little less sure footed.

Batten down those hatches!

Man, it's bad enough in the house. I can't imagine weathering this storm on a boat!!! We've had gusts up to 71 MPH here in Sac. So far I've lost one section of fence, but nothing too major. Winds are supposed to die down by 4:00 today so I guess I'll be mending fences in the rain.

Sounds like you're getting the worst of it Normster. It's showing 52.7 on the outdoor temp indicator. For the moment, things have died down here. About steady 20-25 knots and veering west; so the center is over us and we'll be in the other side of this thing in a couple hours.

Here in RWC, the police sent out automated phone calls to all residents to not leave their homes because of flooding, downed trees, accidents, etc.

Pretty nasty winds here too. In the higher elevations we have seen gusts over 100mph.

It was a good day to sleep in  , however I could do without this back injury.

Weather channel recording low pressure at the center of this thing 16 millibars lower than "The Perfect Storm" that they made the movie out of.

San O'haze checking in...The gusty stuff's died down but I heard my collection of tarps and plywood getting tossed like a ragdoll this AM! Ma nature, she always has the most formidable display of power compared to anything man battles back with. Skyboltone, can you tell if there's some large swells to follow the wind? It'd be great to see Mavericks get juice again this season.

Ah, I kind of thought that's what it was, but didn't want to guess.
My wife is from San Jose and her father still lives there off of Saratoga.

Yeah, it's still kicking up pretty good here!
A lot of folks on the coast got hit pretty good a month ago and it looks like they're getting hammered again.

This is interesting:Don't worry about the security certificate. The US Navy don't have no stinking certificates. This is public Domain from the same site the fleet gets it's info.

Thanks for the link, I've never seen that one before. If I read it correctly, they were slammin' our coast at 36'~42'!!! So the really brutal front of the storm is all done, correct? They seem to calm down by the evening of the 6th. That certificate warning made my browser turn pink in the address bar when I chose to slog on through, funny guys.
