Single channel non reverb Twin style build

Post by mmmoser »

I have a request to build a single channel Blackface Twin but without the reverb. So, its really almost a Dual showman but with one channel. So, the only question is that the dual channels meet into a mixing set of 220k resistors...and if I am eliminating the normal channel, do I also eliminate the mixing set or keep the 220k resistors and run one to ground? This is the AB763 circuit we are talking about here.
Thanks in advance

Yes, just ground that leg of the mixer and good to go!
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Maybe you have this covered, but if you remove the reverb circuit, you'll need to do something where the 10pF//3M3 is so that you have a grid leak path to ground and the signal level is where it needs to be.

Just going to mimic the Showman but with single channel, so no reverb there to begin with. But thanks for mentioning this for future reference.

I found this Steve Luckey design, it certainly helped in my AB763 build.

Thanks for the schematics and layouts. I have to agree a Twin Reverb with no reverb is not really a Twin Reverb...but since the customer is always right, this is what I will build.
Since the Dual Showman Vibrato channel is basically the same thing, this is what I will use. The customer wants a big clean sound...and tremolo.

So to finish off this thread, I built the circuit and shipped it off to its new home. It was 80 watts of loud clean but modded with a PPIV master volume to maintain some sanity. Thanks for all the help. More pics at my Facebook page.

Looks like you used Mag Comp iron in your build.
Should be great.
AB763 Showman is an awesome amp. They start to sound real good with volume around seven and a half.
Of course, you can't be standing in the same county with an amp that loud, but it sounds great.
A defining electric guitar amp.

Yes, Mag Comp stuff all around. I can honestly say I think they provide the best bang for the bucks in transformers out there. I am not a paid spokesperson for them. I certainly have no issue with Heyboer or other makers but day in and day out just great tone at a great price. And I am all about the best tone for the least buck.
