More Log for Fender Tweed Deluxe Volume Pots
Anyone know what pots were used in the Fender Edge Tweed Deluxe?
Re: More Log for Fender Tweed Deluxe Volume Pots
Any reason to suspect that their values are not the original ones?
I see no reason why the pot values would have been changed & even less for which ones.
Apart from the expensive speaker, tighter bottom end than the original sounds like more filtering (through smaller filter caps) and beefier output transformer, to me. I might be wrong, though.

Do you have a issue with the volume pot in the edge?
When I die, I want to go like my Grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming like the passengers in his car!
Cutting out a man's tongue does not mean he’s a liar, but it does show that you fear the truth he might speak about you!

I recall seeing a 5% taper spec on some Fender schematics, which might satisfy the ‘more log’ criteria?

My bad! Now I figure myself the "more log" ...
So that would mean the "The Edge" one has "normally bad"(*) log pots, while the vintage one had some (good) 5% taper ones?

I just read some comments about tweed volume pots. It mentionned that some pots, with a less steeper curve would allow for better dialing the volume at low levels, on the edge of breakup.
Then I remembered this post and felt like I've been overlooking that point.
This curve (from https://guitarnuts2.proboards.com/threa ... llTo=84298 ) suggests that the CTS pots would allow for a better response than the alpha I've been using, notably.
Any additional comments - example given: about an even better solution?

For the past couple of decades at least, CTS have been just crap, an absolute joke, the elongated metal CCW track end means that 20% of the mechanical rotation produces no electrical change.
The benefit for CTS is that the same track can serve for pots with a rotary on/off switch. Yay, cost saving!
The downside is that every other pot doesn’t respond until it’s rotated more than 20%. Boo, previously great company brought down by penny pinching.
I only use CTS when no other option is viable, eg pull-push pots.

Man, that explains quite a bit. I did a D-Lite and used all CTS pots and I thought they behaved really weird and it was very frustrating.

I found another schematic on the web, which shows a step in the response of a CTS pot, in the last degrees of rotation. That is consistent with your gutshot of a CTS pot...
