Good to know. I assume you're digging the hell outta that thing? Still waiting to fill a cab before I can really start getting into mine. The single 12" AlNiCo just doesn't do it for me. One more ceramic to go.

Not really, it's sitting waiting for a cabinet. I've moved on to other builds, actually I have too much going on at the moment.Blackburn wrote:Good to know. I assume you're digging the hell outta that thing?

Sweet!
I'm about to lacquer a couple of 5E3 cabs and am planning on using the Minwax Polyshades lacquer/stain, and I think honey oak is the shade I was referred to. What was your process and did you do poly or nitro?

Look's great Mike good work. I'm interested how the Jupiter caps will
sound. My last build used .022uf @ 630v 1% polystyrene after 50 hours
of play time they smoothed out. I had concerted the Jupiter's.
You may find this interesting I just recapped my early 1960 Fender Concert
Amp it has a real Tweed Bassman OPT in it. Originally the bias was two 8uf
@ 160v first I used 10uf @ 160v the amp had some hiss then tried 47uf @
250v ROE what a change sounds like a JTM-45 on steroids now.
No hum or hiss now.

Thanks Steve, you I just love those old Fender circuits and have come full circle to appreciate how less is more.67plexi wrote:Look's great Mike good work. I'm interested how the Jupiter caps will

Re: Another Bassman Build - Tweed 5F6A : New Digs
Billyz, Yes the 47uf @ 250v ROE x 2 made in Germany killed the hiss.
Dead silent with single coil pickups. I can't tell the amp is on with my ears.

Re: Another Bassman Build - Tweed 5F6A : New Digs
Roederstein, do you think it is the quality of the ROE, or the value ? I'll give them a try in my next build. Though , I have not had much trouble with noise using Philips or Rifa caps.67plexi wrote:Billyz, Yes the 47uf @ 250v ROE x 2 made in Germany killed the hiss.
