Fender Bandmaster reverb: Curing a Ticking tremolo
Folks
I am sure this has been discussed here before
Is there a quick fix for a ticking tremolo? (I know it occurs fairly often in these amps)
I believe its due to coupling issues or layout from what I recall
Any insight please
Markus

.01 cap on the 10-meg (?) resistor and relocate the capacitor from the tag board to the trem jack, onto the main board. Do a google search, it's pretty well covered. Also, the footswitch cable can sometimes cross couple the tremolo noise into the reverb return if the cable is not well shielded. You can get it nearly (if not completely) silent with a little minor work.

This looks right to me. Here is the "official" version.FUCHSAUDIO wrote:.01 cap on the 10-meg (?) resistor and relocate the capacitor from the tag board to the trem jack, onto the main board. Hello Mods: I got the Firefox warning not to e access the PDF. Sorry...I know this has been a continuing problem. I thought I'd mention it. Whoever, it is possible to get unblacklisted. I think you have to keep trying. Meanwhile, at my own peril, I ignored the warning.ATL Strat wrote:This looks right to me. Here is the "official" version.
To the topic of ticking, sometimes the board can become conductive. The fix might be to simply lift the connection into the air rather than using the eyelet. Pictures here: http://timeelect.com/jbl-twin.htm

Thanks Phil
This amp is pristine and the board looks very good to me
(though it doesn't mean it's not conductive)
I will try the suggested steps first

Timely post! I too have a Bandmaster Reverb with a ticking tremolo. I'll put this info to work as soon as I get my 5b6 sorted out.

I did the mods
Bunched the wires at the tube
Moved control wires away from the tone stack wires
Installed the capQuiet as a mouse!
Thanks all!

Cool!
You can't get much better than that with a fix.
