Completed - 5F8A - Four 6V6's
I just can't get enough of Bassman's, this one will be a narrow chassis quad 6V6 version.
PT: Heyboer 123V primary setup for around 420V s/s, 405V GZ34 and close to 365V with a 5U4GB. The plan is to really run it with a 5U4GB
Choke: Heyboer Triad clone 5H
OT: Heyboer 4K 4/8
Glass: Early GE 12AY7, 7025, 12AX7 LP and matched quad TS RI 6V6
Caps: Sozo Blue
CF resistors: Speer KOA CF, Dale MF
Tweaks: 100uf V1 cathode .033 PI couplers
G10 eyelet and filter boards punched and mocked up for fitment.

Re: Completed - 5F8A - Four 6V6's
Can you run a quad 6V6 with a single rectifier? Might be cutting it close.
Re: Completed - 5F8A - Four 6V6's
The 5F8A Tweed Twin ran a quad of 5881's at 395V with a single GZ34. Thus, no reason why a single GZ34 or 5U4GB can't support a quad of 6V6's under similar conditions. Not talking about a quad of JJ's with 450V on he plates biased at 75%, I'm going in the opposite direction.Firestorm wrote:Can you run a quad 6V6 with a single rectifier? Might be cutting it close.

Re: Completed - 5F8A - Four 6V6's
My impression was that 5F8A was fond of arcing its rectifier (when cranked). But you're likely correct. With 300VAC per plate, the 5U4 looks like it can output 150mA per plate at the edge of its safe operating line. 4x6V6 looks like 288mA at max signal at about 365 VA, so forge ahead.

Thanks Darin, originally my thoughts were a tweed head cabinet, might be leaning toward a 2 speaker configuration now.dcribbs1412 wrote:Looks great TM

Hey TM, looking good! Are you looking to get about 40 watts out of this one?

Thanks Lou, yes somewhere around 35 watts or so. The nice thing about this setup is that I can run a quad of 6V6, a EL34 or 6L6 pair or even a pair of 6V6's with just bias change.JazzGuitarGimp wrote:Hey TM, looking good! Are you looking to get about 40 watts out of this one?

How did you get lucky on the blue Sozo's?
Seems like a lot of people were having trouble getting orders delivered.

Tom I placed several orders last year, at least 3 this year and have not experienced excessive lead times from Sozo. The ones you see here along with a few other blue ones were ordered on 10/10 and delivered on 10/18. The last batch of blue ones I received even quicker.

TM,
Nice looking build and interesting as well with quad 6V6. Are you thinking of diagonal 2x12 cab size of 5f6 for this build?

Actually along the lines of like a high power Twin cabinet, maybe something super stupidly different like a 12 and a 10.M Fowler wrote:TM,

I love seeing your builds. Thanks for posting them. Any chance you could post some clips? What do you think of the Kiwame resistors?

Thanks Trane34, I love these CF's in the signal path and wish I could get more values. Honestly they are just Speer KOA in origin. Some of these are from years back when you could get these for .14 a piece from Mouser. Mouser does not stock as many values as they used too, but it sure beats paying that crazy Kiwame rebranded price. The large ones are 3W from my local surplus raids are not marketed by Kiwame.
Yeah, I am backlogged in putting up clips.
