I don't know squat. Can't read much on a schematic other than the ground symbol and a few things. Oh, and I like that new kinda attenuator the Fender EC Twinoluxe has on it so throwing it into the mix would be killer!

If you really want that amp and that is your goal, you may want to consider having someone build it for you. Here's why, there is a learning curve with building amps and it would be helpful if you had a deeper understanding of schematics, etc. And, now this is the bigger reason, once you build this one yourself, you will then convince yourself to build "just one more." And so a Tweed Deluxe enters your stable. Then a Champ.

Then you decide to do a JTM45.

Along comes a 1959.

The learning curve I am OK with. I just found the Navy reading material to get me started. I was thinking of doing a Mojo kit like was on the video I included above, but the one above sounds a LOT better than most Mojo's I have heard. Are their kits good for a beginner to cut some teeth on? Or is a Allen better instruction wise?

I do figure on building a few. I have a room full now of some pretty good stuff but I am always out for "something new". The building one after another, probably. That's how I am...

Just buy a kit .if your pretty handy and no how to solder its not very hard . you don't have to have an in depth understanding of electronics to build a good sounding amp.

Don't put much stock in what you hear in YouTube amp demos. A good player can make a crystal radio set sound awesome, and a poor demo may give you a sour opinion of any amp, no matter how awesome.

Metro is probably a good place to start for a beginner. Good parts, good instructions, good support.

I'd recommend a JTM45, for a couple of reasons. It's a head , so there's lots of space (tweed amps not so much). You can build it as a Bassman if you like. Once it's done and working you can mod it as you please. Plus it's like the all time classic!

I'd go with the Mojotone 1959 Fender Tweed Bassman kit rather then Weber Amp kit or others.

Build what you really want because believe me building and collecting different amps is a sickness and I have it bad.

I find that the secret to that Tweed Bassman 410 is the first preamp tube and good speakers.

Go for a head build and a 4x10 cab. Next time around, build another head and another cab. Then you have 4 combinations. In a few years, you won't know what to do about all the choices.

Also lower plate voltages, because it does not sound the same at 470-500V on the plates. In addition I believe underated PT is part of the magic as well.

What speakers would you recommend in a Mojotone Bassman? What plate voltage (I have a BiasPro)? Does that kit have an adjustable bias? I have quite a few old tubes, what do you guys recommend for the Preamp? The rest make much of a difference?

I have a ton of amps already and I am used to using a Bad Cat UnLeash to pop various amps to different speaker cabs, so I don't really need to head/cab them, though I must admit I have thought of collecting old heads (you can steal BF heads for nothing!). My only concern is on a Bassman as a head it will be a completely different animal. Has anyone made a 20 watt Bassman that sounded great?

Here's a few pics of some of my amps. The BFDR is original. Not a RI. Untouched as far as I can tell other than some tube replacements. Hell, 2 of the 7025's are still in it! The little Marshall was altered by Psionic with the voltage mod and others. The Blues Junior is totally BillM'd. The Victoria is a Silver Sonic which is supposedly a bassman circuit with harmonic tremelo and reverb added. The Matchless Clubman is awesome.
