Alexander

Post by Bob S »

This is Alexander, a 2204'ish build.
Named after our resident alligator wrangler's pet.
410v @ the resevoir.
3 position 3rd stage input level.
Gain boost.
Martinizer.
Totally silent - no hum. None !
You'll understand my surprise when I post gut shots.
Very little hash when cranked.
This is a first for me.
A little hum at least prepares you for the volume level you're about to hear.
Not with this thing. It sits there waiting to sound shock you.
Sounds very good clean - Plexi in spades.
Just getting acquainted - my finger tips are burning.
Gut shots over the weekend.

Hey Al! Looks great, buddy! I can't wait to giggle in awe at the contrarian gut shots! :)

I think it's called cowboy tolex. Looks good.
I sniped the head box on ebay.

That was quite a good snipe. :)

I though about covering my combo cab with the same but I think I am going to sell that cabinet and have Mikey cook me up a pine box.

Couple of old gut shots.
I didn't twist the pre-amp filament wiring.
Ran parallel & shrink sleeved down tight on the deck.
Twisted the power tube filament wiring and ran it overhead.
No Hum ! This is the quietest amp I've ever built.
I'll post an as-is gut shots later.
Got some play time first.

Cool layout Bob! Did you run the heater strings in parallel? 'Like to hear hit go! 8)

That is pretty slick- looks like the PT filament leads go to a terminal strip and then there are two branches, one to the preamp tubes and the other to the power tubes; can't see where the CT is grounded... That is outside the box for sure. What is the gain boost feature?
