2061x clone build question
Hi, im building a clone of a marshall 2061x, and i've got a question about soldering wires to the turret board. How exactly should i go about doing it? Can i solder wires directly to the leads coming off the components, or do they have to be soldered to the turrets?
Not really
Re: 2061x clone build question
Quiz time.
1. What is the purpose of the turrets or eyelets on the board?
2. Find a gut shot of an amp that uses a turret board. Describe the method used to mount components and how the wires are connected to the components.

Its good to utilize the collars on the turrets, especially if you want to easily swap capacitors, or make modding easier on your self.
For example, use the bottom collar for the wire connection to the tube socket.
THe middle collar for connecting a part to the next turret over. and then the turret holes on top for the major parts, like the coupling cap, anode/cathode resistor.

You can use solder to make all the mechanical and electrical connections. Don't let those turrets get in the way.
Electronic equipment is designed using facts and mathematics, not opinion and dogma.

Try to get in contact w Mickey. I Think Ive got his layout and step-by-step instructions somewhere but I don't want to give away his work.
