SIR #36 Cap question
I'm modding a 2204 clone to #36 and I have a question about this 16u cap. I only see the cap in this layout, but not the schematics. What does it do and if its a good idea to include this, do you think 10u or 22uf in place of 16u would do fine? I don't have a 16u

Re: SIR #36 Cap question
yes a hi-gain amp needs proper filtering indeed. 10-22uf is fine really.

A good rule of thumb for a high gain amp is to not have any more then two gain stages powered off of just one filter node.
Use the 22 uf .

Thank you both!
Re: SIR #36 Cap question
One last question. What would the minimum voltage rating for this cap? I just realized that the one I have is 25v
Re: SIR #36 Cap question
Thank you! I ended up finding a 16u 500 F&T in my stash. Larger than I planned for but I found a nice spot on the side chassis wall.
