6AQ5 low power super lead started

Post by randalp3000 »

After seeing a Zep tribute band I started getting Marshall fever again. So I thought I would build a low power small amp for fun.

Here is what I have so far and about to start the layout and chassis punch.

If it turns out good I might do one with 4 6aq5's to gig with.

It should work out well for Ya and those Q5s pretty much need the same drive signal voltage as a 34 would!

Come on, start out with 4X 6AQ5 otherwise it's not a Super Lead. In honor of Spike Jones you ought to call a 4X 6AQ5 version a Super-Duper Super Lead.

You can always pull 2 tubes if the cops keep coming over

What's your plan for voltages, to keep the tail end low and the front end high or at least plexi-like?

jelle, thank you

rp
I found a voltage chart online yesterday and I run the B+ in parallel for the preamp so I have a bit more control. After I get it running I'll tweak the dropping resistors to get it in marshall territory.

I hope to be using it in church this Sunday.

It lives...........

had to switch the OP trans primary's and tweak the preamp voltages a bit. Hope to be able to crank it up today and see how it holds up.
