Express Clone Completed
Well it was a long trip, but I finally got the Express completed. I would like to thank all of you guys on this forum that was a great help in getting this completed. Everyone helped, but I wouldn't have been able to complete this without the help of Nic over at CeriaTone, Dana, and Moose.

You guessed it. It sounds great. The only issue is that I need to put some shielded cable on the Presence control to get ride of a whistle when the Presence control is cranked.strat57 wrote:Nice looking..... how's she sound?? Is that Spalted Maple for the front?
Re: Express Clone Completed
Before using shielded cable try shielding the chassis (bottom plate) cured my problem!

Re: Express Clone Completed
I am in the process of trying that now. I just happened to pick the amp up to set my Furman in under it, and walah the whistle went away. So I have got some flashing and I am going to give that a try. Thanks.keithrick wrote:Before using shielded cable try shielding the chassis (bottom plate) cured my problem!

Cool!!
BTW-Also try moving the cab off of the speaker cab to reduce vibrations.

Re: Express Clone Completed
OK I tried putting a sheet of Aluminum Rolled Flashing from the local hardware store. I cut it to the size of the opening of the chassis bottom. I set the amp back on top of the cabinet and it still whistles about the last 3/4 turn of the Presence control. How did you guys combat this issue. I have to be able to set the amp on top of the cabinet. By the way it is a Marshall 1960A cabinet loaded with Greenbacks. Please give me some ideas.keithrick wrote:Before using shielded cable try shielding the chassis (bottom plate) cured my problem!

Nice Build- Congrats! Have you tried chop sticking the amp. You may be able to solve the problem by moving the position of your wires. The 2nd stage grid wire is very sensitive. Is it run close to the chassis or did you use shielded wire here? Can you post a pic.

Re: Express Clone Completed
Yeah I re-routed some wires before, but now if I set the amp on top of the cabinet I get the whistle. I can pick the amp up about an inch and it goes away. Set the amp back down and the whistle comes back. It is definitely cabinet interference, because if I set it on top of my 2x12 cabinet it works perfect. If I set it on top of my 4x12 cabinet it whistles the last 1/4 of the presence knob. Maybe it needs some 6 inch feet on the bottom of it.

or just put the feet on the top, and flip it over......you can call it the TrainWreck Rollover.hot_tube_tone wrote:... Maybe it needs some 6 inch feet on the bottom of it.

Try setting a nice piece of foam rubber under the head cab.
