Re: Small Special
Jelle, the schematic I am showing is supposed to be from the Small Special, if so, there should be a cap right before the Master Volume. Do you recall the value you have used?
Thank in advance.

NFB resistor sure looks wrong.alvarezh wrote:Jelle, the schematic I am showing is supposed to be from the Small Special, if so, there should be a cap right before the Master Volume. Do you recall the value you have used?

Re: Small Special
Ha, ha, nice one Jelle, another of your Masterpieces with values completely different than the schematic!
Got the message: build and experiment!
I fully understand your position, no hard feelings on this side.
Thanks anyways.
@Chris: The values on the schematic seem like they were measured directly from the components, that for the resistors and voltages at least. But the NFB most likely be 930 ohms, right? We'll just have to experiment!
Nice catch.
All the best guys.

Re: Small Special
Haha! I figured that it would be a .01 or a .02uF. I had the NOS .02uF so that was easy!
Besides, it is not about the exact values. It is about creating a great sounding amp.
That NFB resistor is a 820r or higher. The person who made the 60's schem on schematicheaven prob did not know that the OT secondary shunted the reading. Also, the PI couplers are .1uF. I had .15uF, so that is what I used.
The owner *loves* the amp.

"The owner *loves* the amp"
I have no doubt on that assertion. One only has to look at the linked image for confirmation; you're a great craftsman!
Thanks for the info.
Cheers!

Jelle, true words to live by. I love to cook, but I can never follow a recipe exactly. Always got to kick it up a notch.jelle wrote:Besides, it is not about the exact values. It is about creating a great sounding amp.

Reminds me... more chili peppers in my pasta souce. Late dinner... Thanks!
Re: Small Special
If anyone could help me please I do not want to use the guitar/mic or the deep control. Do I go from the bottom of the treble control directly to the middle of the volume pot? Thanks for any help.
Re: Small Special
There are two ways you can rewire...
1) Looking at the schematic, connect the bottom lug of the treble control to the top lug of the bass control....
2) Leave the cap connection to the middle lug of the bass pot but remove the connection between the middle and top lug. Then connect the bottom treble lug to the middle lug of the bass pot.
#2 is similar to the circuit used in some Fender Blackface amps.

Thanks for the help TT and I'll try it tonight.

What chassis can be used for this one? I can order a 483 mmx170 mmx65 mm (roughly 19x7x2.6 in inches) one pretty cheap here.
Will this be alright?
