5e3 power tranformer (?)
Hi,
does anybody have something to suggest me about a new 5e3 PT?
I prefer something in EU, in order not to have such high shipping costs
i had a Weber one, but it's blown now... my 5e3 is Weber's kit, too
i can't afford expensive PTs, so i'm looking for just a better than the Weber one
Thank you!

Hammond 290AEX should be available in EU.

yeah,it's available, thank you martin!!
Re: 5e3 power tranformer (?)
AEX is a Champ-sized PT, plus only 81mA on the HT.martin manning wrote:Hammond 290AEX should be available in EU.

The 290BEX or 291BEX might work. Available from Tube-Town in Germany. TAD offers something as well, but I don't see any spec's.
Re: 5e3 power tranformer (?)
According to Hammond AEX is a PT for tweed deluxe, not BEX. Do you think I should put on a bigger one?

Re: 5e3 power tranformer (?)
I read Tweed Deluxe on Hammond's site too, and that one is probably for the 5A3 "TV front" Deluxe.
Measure the mounting centers on the PT you have. Hammond lists 290BEX as being for Deluxe and Deluxe Reverb, with 2-1/4 x 2-13/16 (57.2 x 71.4mm). Magnetic components lists their 40-18021 for 5E3, with those same mounting centers, so 290BEX is likely correct.

The 290AEX has 2" x 2-1/2"mounting centers, so you need to check. I'm thinking you need a 290BEX.

My PT is the first one, an i see the voltages are different in all 3 PTs. As i'm not a specialist, i don't know if i can replace the first with the other, can i? Any consequences with this replace?

Re: 5e3 power tranformer (?)
The bolt centers are matched by the 291BEX. Is your line voltage 220 or 240V?
Re: 5e3 power tranformer (?)
the line voltage here is meant to be 230v +-5...
when i was building my 5e3, i asked a technician and he told me to connect the 240v line of the PT. Was he right? Every other device i have in my house is 100-240v...

Ok sounds good. Here is how you would connect the Hammond PT.
