Starting Liverpool build
Guys
Here's some early pics of a Twin Tube EL84 Liverpool build I'm working on. It's got Edcor Xformers, CDE film caps and Takman REY 1 watt metal film resistors.
I won't be building a clone Liverpool but my version of the amp. Like I did with my Rocket and Rockster...

I love the look of those blue bells.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com
Re: Starting Liverpool build
And being a frugal New Englander their prices are great. $140 for both the PT and OT and shipping. Of course there is a small wait while they build them but I just source my other parts then.
And have been happy with the sounds too. I think even Mark Fowler likes these...and he builds a ton of amps, like yourself.

Yes I do like the blue bells.
Re: Starting Liverpool build
Would you mind explaining the tone stack - I only see 2/3 of the tone stack caps. Do you move the other .022uF onto the pot?

Good eye, not a real big fan of the "middle" tone control so went only treble and bass with a cut control ala the Rocket. Again not a clone but based on the Liverpool somewhat...

Re: Starting Liverpool build
Since the last post I got the transformers in and wired up some of the chassis connections. Tube sockets and switch and indicator light.

Re: Starting Liverpool build
And I populated the two boards. The Takman resistors have bigger wire than usual so fitting two into a turret was hard. I had to drill out some of them to make it work. Not the work of art you guys post but it should work fine here in the basement.

Looking good!
I'm digging the chassis service rack you have, is that something you built or purchased?

Very nice Joe, looks sharp.
Re: Starting Liverpool build
Looking good, I used Edcor transformers in a few builds and they sound good.
Like the variety you can order from them and they seem well made.

Yeah I made it, it's made from 80 20 1 inch stock. All pieces right from their catalog.
Dave,
Thanks sir!
Jeff,
Yeah I like the Edcor stuff. Built a Rocket, Rockster, and now the Liverpool with their transformers. And lots of choices too.

That is a good way to go with filter caps.

Re: Starting Liverpool build
Nice looking build Joe. I really like the Edcor transformers in the 15 watt format. Great photos, thanks for sharing the details.

Mark
Sure is, I got it from your Rocket build. And you can move the two sections around to fit any chassis.
Thanks.
Rj,
Thanks, I find the Edcors work great and you have some great ones for more powerful builds too.
