We had -9°F last week, and real high barometer keeping all the oilfield stinks and smells down against the ground where we can smell them.

The lows this week have been in the teens, so it's much nicer. Don't need to let the faucets drip at night until it gets down to zero.
Don't you boys know any NICE songs?

FWIW, I was concerned for you. I'm glad to hear this.

Landlord, being publicly outed leaving me without heat this winter... yeah--he acted on that. Three hours later, the "knock knock knock" of baseboards kicking on.

It's now a jaw-droppingly comfortable 58 in here. Love it.
What's with all the psychos in otherwise lovely Vermont? Don't they know they belong in NY, LA, & most importantly Washington DC? It IS amusing that being "outed to a psycho" was the push your lamelord needed to get the heat going. 58F - ain't too bad. When it's' like that here I just double up on long johns (I use sweatpants for that), sweater, vest, scarf, hat. Double sox too. Used to get awful colds & flu, not so much after I started the "dress warm" campaign.

Crikeys, that's where I thought you were. And on radio news I hear about other nutty things going on - Brattleboro seems to draw more than its share of wackos, not just the citizens but also the police. One day I was there, met Terry Adams (NRBQ) hiking down the sidewalk, a fairly benign eccentric unless you happen to be a Hohner clavinet. Oh well. So much for my detective abilities. 5 states left...

Heck it's all cold now, just a matter of to what degree. Mighty glad to see things are improving for you, & I hope it gets even better.

global warming they said !!!!
at -28C (-22F) i don't think so...

It endend to be -40 with wind chill

fact: -40C is the same as -40F. that the only place where both scale show the same temp.

Unfortunately, as meteorological scientists say, this is the flip side of the warming - a lot more Extreme situsations. On a global average, the warming is very much detectable.

I must say that is true. today it's -6C so it a 22C difference compare to yesterday. those cold episode are now followed bye warm temp and/or rain then extreme cold again....

I also noticed that spring and fall last a lot more longer than it used to be.

Heck, a little cold snap is par for the course, no big deal. What the weather boffins have predicted for NY/New England and nearby Canada is not much of a change overall. Local expected change is average overnite temps in winter will rise to @ 12 to 15F meaning some insects, both bothersome and not, will survive the winter and flourish. England is already seeing this effect; bugs that are native to Spain & Morocco are showing up and breeding year to year.

Well - so far Yours and my waters will probably come out favourably With only a slight increase in average temeperature. OTOH - even this might have severe implications in other fields than weather. I live in an area which is the scene for the worlds largest cod fisheries, which have enourmous importance in several aspects. If the sea temp around here rises a mere 2 degC, it may have drastic consequences for the wandering and spawning of the Arctic cod. This is an extremely complex Picture.

The only thing preventing an ice age is ocean currents distrubuting heat around the planet. Those get fucked up then all the sudden we have bad bad problems. Cold fresh water from the ice caps melting fucks up these currents.
