Push-on knobs for d-shaft pots?

Hi All,

Back in the 60's, pressure-fit, push-on knobs for d-shaft pots were readily available. Though it looks like they have fallen out of fashion. Does anyone know if there are suppliers who are selling current-production knobs of this style?

Yes, there's a couple there, Ampeg "stove knob" for instance.

Also Fender red knobs for "evil Twins" & other amps of that error, um, era. What flummoxes me, some Fenders need a knob that's 180 degrees opposite the replacements, what to do?

I have a shoebox full of old knobs of many different styles. Talk to me if you need something in particular, I might have some.

I've already high-graded all the really nice setscrew types, but there are a bunch of push-ons in there.

Yeh welll... they are the solder pin types, in SS as well as tube Fenders. Why Fender doesn't have the 180 version, makes me want to pull my hair out, lucky there ain't any left. Will have to "sacrifice" some SS Fenders for their knobs, that's all there is to it.

Thanks for your responses. Unfortunately, I am not looking for just a few knobs. I am the design engineer for Brimstone Audio, which is a startup pedal company. We've been selling our first pedal, the Crossover Distortion for a few years now. It's a dual-band distortion pedal with sweepable crossover frequency. It has 11(!) knobs. I have been tasked with finding push-on knobs to "substantially reduce assembly time". We can get knurled, split shaft versions of the d-shaft pots we currently use, and I
suspect we will do that once we've depleted our current stock.

I have just found a push-on knob at Mammoth Electronics. It's a soft knob for mixing desks, though it's a bit smaller in diameter than the knob we're currently using (19mm vs 12mm). But I am going to ordier some and see how they look.

There doesn't seem to be as many options for d-shaft push-ons as I recall from yesteryear. Any and all advice / suggestions are welcome. I'm all ears...

Just a guess but the D shaft pots from yesteryear was probably so the consumer could put the knob on right if it was removed.

Or, many times they were custom knobs with labeling on them that could only be lined up with labels if it was installed correctly.

The Mammoth knobs are cheap looking I have those too

Contact Davies knobs or some other knob manufacturer I guess for quantity buys.

Thank you for the pointer to Davies. They have some reasonably-priced offerings. I am going to see if I can get my hands on enough to build up one of our pedals to see how they look.
