Re: Old Time Photo's Thread!
These were taken in my college days. Early 80's. I am the bass player in the first photo, second from left. The bass is a Gibson Ripper. Still have it. I've gravitated toward a Stratocaster these days.

Re: Old Time Photo's Thread!
Naw, none of us cared how we looked beck then. We were 4 college roommates living together in a party house in Cheney, WA. He was playing a Les Paul Custom through some unnamed tube amp that had been recovered, and we didn't know what brand it was. We called it the Black Amp and made a logo for the front of the cab. The other guitarist played a Memphis LP copy thru an Oahu amp. Wish we still had that Oahu around, it was a mean little amp.

New Year's Eve 1984. Kicked the ass out of a private party in a Podunk town. Saw some kid afterward with a ghetto blaster going down the road had taped the whole show on a cassette. Some guy tried to give me his drugs and his girlfriend. Rock and roll was good to me.

In theory, theory is the same as practice. In practice it's different.

At that time they were...de rigueur!!
At that time I also owned a Hiwatt 50 which our other guitarist was playing thru...

Jeez, Joe, if you owned the best gear that early on, where do you go for the next forty years?!?
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com

And you don't wanna know about the Marshall stuff that went thru our hands.

I was really proud of this accomplishment as a whole bunch of guys auditioned in this band, but I got the gig.... The original guitar players were Paul Gilbert and Curt James...

Fun thread. I don't have anything to contribute because I didn't do that (much). But looking at the photos I'd guess (and I'm sure you all were immensely talented), the amps and guitars wound up being worth more than your recording rights. Sad.

My first paid gig in 1977. I was fourteen and it was a country gig at a VFW. The bass is my first, a no-name 3/4 scale.
