Maybe time to call Mr Scumback for a rumour check? I think he and JF are buds....

Interesting.
Gil's post mentioned that JF would be making the amps, not Morte... fwiw.

Bottom line, it still is not HAD.

Call it what you want, all it will do is devalue the Dumble amps that are currently out in the market place.

Perhaps not HAD, but it would still be a Dumble, like Fenders are Fenders, Marshalls are Marshalls, Riveras are Riveras, Bogners are Bogners. None of those guys build amps anymore, as you know. :)

I think if we count the number of real Dumble amps that might be for sale out there, we may find maybe a couple of dozen pieces. If you count the number of high-priced clones out there (and I know you are not one of them), the number is many times greater. So, while it may hurt the resale value of Dumble amps that might be for sale, a business venture of this nature could wipe a couple of companies off the map IMHO.

Did you see the ODS 150W for sale on eBay? I get a feeling there are some people who might actually know what the actual deal is with Dumble's commercial venture, and they are downloading their (overpriced) amps fast.

I am wondering what would happen if he would scale up production...we all know the Leo fender CBS story...and there are still many guitar and ampbuilders out there who manage to make a living out of reproducing these guitars and amps from the good old times...

What's next after he has build a whole bunch of std ODS amps? A custom shop Dumble ODS amp 'to recreate the tone and feel of those original ODS amps that got it all started'??????

JF was rumored to be no longer Dumble's "bud", after helping Scumback and/or Adam Stark with a few amp projects. HAD's conduct towards Jim in-part, fueled many of his friends and staunch defenders (like Adam Stark, Jim Seavall and Scott Henderson) to quietly distance themselves from the big guy.

Considering how many direct offers he's been made to manufacture amps commercially, I'd be surprised to see it happen. I've spoken to some major (well capitalized) music industry people directly, so I know it ain't speculation, and the offers were turned down, in some cases quite rudely.

Since none of the people mentioned are "him", sanctioned or not, it would be tough to judge the impact even if it did happen.

I guess Sifu Paul Morte (who ?) is now the go-to guy since Jim Foote was kicked out of "the club" ?[/quote]

I have 2 of Jim Foote's custom made amps, I think he got kicked out of the club when one of Howards clients cancelled his amp order and went with one of Jim Foote's custom amps.

I talked to Jim Foote on Saturday. At his request I am deleting my previous post. I can tell you he's not taking over the Dumble amp building reins from HAD, and there are no plans to that effect in the works, nor has he talked to HAD for quite some time.

On a lighter side...have you notice sparks-of-happiness-on-kitchen-table-amp-builder's eyes? And how everything becomes tense and dramatic when they go commercial??

Hang in there Jim...
Small world but, there's room for everyone...
And thanks for the up-date...nice to come out of the kitchen once in a while and read about the real world...
