Re: Check this out......
This amp was built for Lowell George, originally, eh?
Interesting that Hoyt Axton the ~country songwriter owned this crunch machine. I read that Larry Carlton played on some of Hoyt's records. I wonder if Hoyt heard the Dumble, and was all "man I gotta get me one o' them!"

Thanks!!ToneMerc wrote:Thought I was going to be able to send you one for your kindness, I searched my parts bin and found the fem 4 pin XLR jack and the plug housing, but the not the 4 pin plug internals....sucks.redshark wrote:Charlie, the amp was off when I took measure.
I will look for more pics of the amp.
Question....
Can I get a part number for the male plug to try to build a footswitch for the amp?
Thanks!!

Should I just buy a generic foot switch from ebay cut the 1/4inch jack and rewire to this male plug?
Thanks!!

Re: Check this out......
Redshark, you need a five wire cord to wire the plug. Four of the wires ground your relays and leds and the fifth is ground. Do a search for footswitch wiring and you will find all kinds of posts. (the photo is a real Dumble footswitch)

Thanks Charlie!!!
I though I could buy any dual foot switch on ebay and remove the stereo 1/4 inch jack and rewire the male plug....I though it was that easy!!

Re: Check this out......
What is the actual footswitch and five wire chord part numbers?
Where can I buy a footswitch enclosure to look like a real Dumble?
Thanks!!

XLR Connectors from Mouser:
XLR Female 5 Pin (chassis) 502-D5F
XLR Male 5 Pin 502-A5M
5-Conductor Wire Choices:
WIRE 5-cond 602-1175C-100 (Alpha, from Mouser... it works, but not ideal IMNSHO)
The Belden version of the above, which I used to by at a local shop and which was what Dumble used. A little better than the Alpha in that it is more flexible, but it still kinks somewhat.
Canare L4E6S-BY-THE-FOOT Microphone Cable by The Foot (http://www.fullcompass.com/prod/093596- ... Y-THE-FOOT). This cable is harder to work with because it is thicker, four wires + ground mesh and only two colors, so you have to be a little more careful when soldering it to the connectors to avoid a mistake. HOWEVER, this cable is rubbery, memory-less, it lays flats however you throw it on the floor, etc. If you are like me, you may curse while working with it because it takes effort to thread it through the connector's grommet, you have to attache a little wire to the ground mesh and solder that to the DIN connector, etc., but when you're done you will know there probably is no better.

Right you are! Getting expensive now, I had bought it for 40c/ft a few years ago... Even at 60c/ft. well worth it.

For FTSW cable I use Belden 8445
Mouser part#: 566-8445-100
This stuff is getting more and more expensive though. When I bought a 100ft spool 6 years ago, it was $54.90. Now it's $87.18!!! What the %&#!
Here's a shot of my BM and 183 stompers:

Re: Check this out......
Belden 1192a is the best. Rubber jacket, stays flexible. Better than canare in the cold.
Re: Check this out......
I use this three button footswitch from AES.

I switch Mid, OD and PAB.
I also replaced two of the LED's so I have yellow, red and green.

Who stocks the 5 conductor version? Curious about the price. It seems that Mouser only has the 4 conductor version, and the price of the cheapest variety is $194 per foot...butwhatif wrote:Belden 1192a is the best. Rubber jacket, stays flexible. Better than canare in the cold.

And it's four inner conductors plus a shield.
Markertek has it: http://www.markertek.com/product/bl-119 ... foot-black
They don't seem to have the 8445 though. But these guys seem to have a good price on the 8445: http://www.wireandcabletogo.com/Belden- ... aQodEAoIWg
Re: Check this out......
...but... If your amp has a DIN footswitch connector, then couldn't you just use a MIDI cable?
