Re: Amp Chassis Cradle
I have 2 copies of this (slightly different dimensions for each) and I must say I love them dearly and would really miss the convenience of using the base as a parts/wire/small tool tray! It allows me to put the whole project, with its parts, aside when I run into a snag or realize I forgot to order a couple parts. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who's ever done that!guitarmike2107 wrote:Here is my original file for a wooden one

Re: Amp Chassis Cradle
When we bought our home, I told the wife that the whole house is hers (except for my night table & small space in the bathroom), but the 2+ car garage was absolutely ALL MINE! She agreed and life is good! Studio/wood shop/amplifier shop, basically 20 pounds of SH!T in a 5 pound bag,but it's ALL my 20 pounds! The wife doesn't get stuck having to see me/put up with me very often, except at feedin' time and the occasional roll in the .................HEY!Structo wrote:My wife won't feed me until I clean off my bench, uh, I mean dining table.

Re: Amp Chassis Cradle
I have 2 already but you guys have some really cool designs here.
Bad thing is if I build another. I will have 3 amps going at the same time not just 2.
Shit I better rethink this. (LOL).

I have referred people to your design for years as I thought it the best design I have seen.
I have built a couple another designs that I haven't really been happy with them.
I finally built one that works pretty good and it's a lot like yours.
When I build an amp, I don't use a cradle because I don't install the transformer until last.
But, I do use the cradle once the amp is built or if I am working on another amp, trouble shooting, etc.
But be sure you build it large enough so you can rotate the whole amp 360 degrees.

Re: Amp Chassis Cradle
Here's a very basic one I made last summer that was inspired by a user on DIYaudio. I've been meaning to pad the resting grooves with foam, but so far it's turned out to be pretty reliable considering how easy it was to make.

Re: Amp Chassis Cradle
The one I made is very simple, but it works very well:

amp cradle
simple but effective

Here's another simple cradle. It's kinda a combination of ideas I've seen in this thread plus a couple of my own ideas. There's more info here...
