I was at a friends yesterday, a guitarist I've worked with over the years, and Eric Clapton had been over there the night before. Eric had said he'd been to Howard Dumble's house to order a new amplifier.
He'd left a very large sum as deposit, and HAD was going to make him a 100w Bandmaster.
yes, he's on with now!!! who knows when it will appear. I've a feeling Eric might have a bit more pull than the average punter however
mind you I think Larry Carlton got fed up with HAD's 'idiosyncrasies' and ended up with Bludotone.
Another friend of mine was John Mayer's guitarist for a long time and he said that HAD refused to make john an amp after he started using the two rocks.
The thing is, a Bandmaster preamp is the same as most the other blackface circuits with tremolo. So you put a 100w power amp on a Bandmaster pre and get a Showman.

Exactly
Eric's not really that up on the technicals though of gear so if he wants a 100w bandmaster then HAD will make him one.
You'd wince if you knew the price!! not that Eric can't afford it though.
Well the cool thing is it sounds like Eric is going to be playing the guitar. I read a short while back that he had some chronic injuries that made it difficult for him to play.

who knows, He's not too well at the moment, he had an ice pack on his knee when he came over the other night but I think he's getting the itch to get back on the road again. Time will tell
Just thought it was interesting that HAD is still alive and well and making amps.

Seems I recall seeing a pair of Low Power Tweed Twins behind EC for a number of years.
The last versions of the tweed Super/Pro/Bandmaster/LPTwin share the same CF tone stack, PI and output section(different OTs).
Preamp was different in Low Power Twin.
Super/Pro/Bandmaster all the same circuit with the exception of the OTs and a LNFB resistor value.
Maybe EC is going back to his tweed tone. It will be interesting to see which it is. My first thought about a BF style amp from
HAD would be something like a Hotel Hog or UP Bandmaster.
Although I was not impressed with my builds of HADs Tweed Deluxe I cant wait to see what he will do with a Bandmaster of either kind.
