Re: AN Wonderland/JM 100w layout
just curious...
what if put pre-amp signal (send) of Wonderland into power section (return) of SSS ?
i guess... the sound from Wonderland pre-amp may be quite similar to the sound from SSS pre-amp. (though the circuits are different)
and SSS power section may add more dynamics.
is my guess true??

In my view it will probably be stiffer and cleaner as opposed to the warmer PI from the JMidnotbe wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2017 6:23 am just curious...

Now one thing I've been curious about is how different does the PI from #001 sound as compared to the #002
Re: AN Wonderland/JM 100w layout
For a 50W version of this, which is more appropriate; the 290DX (Super Reverb - 325V, 50V bias supply, CT on the heaters & extra 5V secondary) or the 290EX (Bassman - 330V, 53V bias supply, & no CT on the heaters secondary)?
Same question goes for the OT, the 1760K (Super Reverb - 4000 Ohms) or the 1760L (Bassman - 4200 Ohms)?
I'm trying to put together a definite BOM so I can start accumulating parts

Re: AN Wonderland/JM 100w layout
The only difference with having a heater CT or not is a pair of 100R resistors to ground on your heater wiring if you haven't got a CT.

Re: AN Wonderland/JM 100w layout
Does anyone know the brand of those brown/red caps used on the mixer LNFB and the cap that goes to the master?
Re: AN Wonderland/JM 100w layout
Hi. I was looking at the layout for this amp on page 1 of this thread and noticed there was a .01uf capacitor and 220K resistor between the wiper of the return pot and V4b. I noticed several other JM schematics are showing a 22K resistor only here. I just wanted to confirm the 220K was correct here. I am completing a 50 watt version of this amp. Should be done in the next 3 weeks , can't wait to power her up! I wanted to send special thanks to Taylor for posting his layout.
Cheers

Thank you Taylor!
Will post some pics on the other topic I started for my build ( John Mayer/Wonderland build in 17x10in chassis ) when she is done.
Cheers.

Looks great. Can I ask about the dual rectifiers? what do two rectifier valves do opposed to one?

Re: AN Wonderland/JM 100w layout
2nd one allows for a much beefier power supply, one tube could never support 100u on the first stage.norburybrook wrote: ↑Sun Aug 27, 2017 9:59 am Looks great. Can I ask about the dual rectifiers? what do two rectifier valves do opposed to one?

Re: AN Wonderland/JM 100w layout
I was checking the schematic of Vox amps and the Cut control usually uses a B250K pot with the 4n7 cap
I noticed that the JM amps has a A250K countour instead. Has anyone tried a B250k?

Re: AN Wonderland/JM 100w layout
I can't prove it since I sold the amp but I seriously doubt I used the 250KA pot for the contour when I always use a 250KB.
