[Question] Brownface Tremolo on V1
Happy new year to all! May 2018 be an even better year!
I am struggling to remember which brownface amp had the tremolo on the cathodes of V1 tubes?
Anyone can fresh up my mind please? Thanks a lot!

Re: [Question] Brownface Tremolo on V1
I don't think any brownface (6Gxx) amp ever had that type tremolo. The only Fender amps I recall that applied tremolo to V1 cathode was Bronco and Vibro-Champ (same as Bronco).Bombacaototal wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2018 12:21 pm I am struggling to remember which brownface amp had the tremolo on the cathodes of V1 tubes?
Re: [Question] Brownface Tremolo on V1
Vibrolux 5e11 Are you thinking of a tweed amp and not brownface?

Re: [Question] Brownface Tremolo on V1
That 5E11 uses half of V1 for the trem oscillator, but the trem signal is actually applied to the grids of the output tubes, not the cathode of V1.

You're right! My error.the trem signal is actually applied to the grids of the output tubes, not the cathode of V1
This one seems to tie into a cathode of V2 instead of V1. Maybe this would work for you?
5E9 Tremolux

10thtx, I am just wondering of Magnatone had any design which was similar to this one where the Tremolo is on V1 cathodes?
Re: [Question] Brownface Tremolo on V1
I don't recall any Magnatones using that type of tremolo, but that's not to say that some of their cheaper models didn't. You can find that type tremolo on many Valco amps and other cheap amps.
Plenty of Supros used that tremolo. Here are a couple...

And the popular Marshall 1974 18 Watt amp...

Plenty more examples out there if you just look through some schematic libraries.

Why Magnatone? If you are interested in their pitch-shifting vibrato, that is a very different technique.Bombacaototal wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2018 1:54 pm...I am just wondering of Magnatone had any design which was similar to this one where the Tremolo is on V1 cathodes?
Re: [Question] Brownface Tremolo on V1
Yes. There are others with without LDR that directly modulate.

Thanks a lot Sluckey! I was looking for other alternatives for this type of circuit and these helped a lot.sluckey wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2018 3:19 pm I don't recall any Magnatones using that type of tremolo, but that's not to say that some of their cheaper models didn't. Re: [Question] Brownface Tremolo on V1
I am thinking of implementing a switch on the Tremolux 5E9 tremolo, to be able to remove it completely from the circuit. Given the switch will be placed at the cathode it will need to handle DC. Any recommendations of a switch?
Re: [Question] Brownface Tremolo on V1
Use anything that will fit the chassis.
