50w Hot Rod Plexi AFD #39
Well after many requests I'm finally working fast on a Fowler HRP (Hot Rod Plexi) AFD #39 in a 50w version and smaller cab size.
Using Watts 20"x6.5"x2.5" blank chassis outside mounting flanges so 21.5" overall width.
PT: P-TM-P50
OT: P-TM050 3k2 4/8/16
Choke: Hammond 194G 3H 250mA dc
HRP faceplates redesigned by Mojotone to smaller configeration
Custom poplar wood cab being built by my friend and will be stained redish brown with black corners.
Received the panels today and drilled/punched chassis today. Tomorrow is board day if my material arrives, black garolite. Mark

Re: 50w Hot Rod Plexi AFD #39
My black garolite board doesn't arrive until Monday so will have to do something else.

That's gonna be sweet, Mark. Nice job.

Thanks Dave.
Here is the mostly completed board still have to attach under board B+ wires.

Re: 50w Hot Rod Plexi AFD #39
That's a nice, clean layout and everything is easily accessible.
Re: 50w Hot Rod Plexi AFD #39
Great layout ! Does it use a tube driven FX Loop?
2203/2204-ish/Deluxe Reverb
Re: 50w Hot Rod Plexi AFD #39
No tube effects loop on this one, I thought about it though.
Re: 50w Hot Rod Plexi AFD #39
The wiring continues, I can't work on amps everyday so the progress is slow.

.01 PI caps are my take too for 50 watters.

Continued work should get it done early next week.

Re: 50w Hot Rod Plexi AFD #39
The amp is running on bench tubes, tomorrow is tube bias time using EL34's JJ and tube rolling 1-4 preamp tubes 12AX7's.

Re: 50w Hot Rod Plexi AFD #39
I know what layout design changes to make to the board on the next one. Want to stream line the building process and may even work with a PCB designer, we'll see.

Re: 50w Hot Rod Plexi AFD #39
The first 50w amp is sold and is ripping it up so I have started 50w amp number two.
Changed up the board a little still not the best but amp number one is very quiet at idle. Then hold on to your guitar and open her up.

Re: 50w Hot Rod Plexi AFD #39
I highly recommend my fellow Ampgarage members to build one of these SIR #39 based off the schematic of Darkbluemurder-Stephen from his original schematic.
In Stephen's notes he later changed a few thing but I rather enjoy the circuit in V1.0
Power amp circuit is based on Marshall JCM800 2204 or 2203 for 100w.
