I like to mod the normal channel with two simple component changes.
1. Switch the 820 cathode resistor to 1.5k
2. Switch the .022 coupling cap to .01
That's it...

Re: Marshall Superlead Normal Channel
Been a while but I'm back!
I had to put this aside for a while.... So this weekend I tried a 470pF bright cap on the normal channel's volume and that help a lot and sounds pretty good! Will a 47pf like what was suggested even sound better?
Thanks for all of the suggestions.
Is the 470 too much from a frequency analysis standpoint?

The circuit doesn't care. Let your ears say what value is correct for you.

If it works it works . 500p is a common bright cap value . Obviously not stock to normal channel .matt1969 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 11:06 am Been a while but I'm back!

I tend to to emphasis the following : I betcha the increased bass is a result of aging parts , and careful part swapping on the normal channel , or possibly capacitors within the power supply . Increased ESR in caps can really smear the sound. Also pay attention to any carbon comp resistor value drift if they are in there .
You can band aid this with bright caps and value changes , but it won’t treat the infection .

Turned out to be a faulty solder joint under the PCB! Thanks for all of the replies!
Re: Marshall Superlead Normal Channel
for me is too much, but this depends of the guitar.. usually for normal not bassy guitar is cca 150-220pF enoughmatt1969 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 11:06 am Been a while but I'm back!
