Takman resistors
Has anyone tried either the metal film or carbon film resistors in their amp builds?

Re: Takman resistors
Yes, I've use(d) both. Nice and quiet and no issues with tone. Tolerances are very tight too.

Re: Takman resistors
Colossal, thanks for the reply, the ones I ordered arrived today, looking forward to using them on my next build.
Re: Takman resistors
Excellent!
Re: Takman resistors
Did someone mention Takman's?
But yeah... Long and thick leads too!

Clear, no hype, low noise. You might miss a little hiss because it acts like analog dithering but if you run your amps loud af it is very noticeable.. they are clean.
Love them!

They make an amp stout and punchy . Clean and clear. Very noticeable, especially if you were to swap them all with another brand within the same amplifier.

How exactly does one measure stout, punchy, clean, and clear?
Are "stout", "punchy", "clean" and "clear" binary conditions, as in an amp is either completely stout or completely not stout, nothing in between? Or can an amp be 0.75 Stout?
Is the resistor brand change independent of everything else? For instance, will a JBL speaker make the amp "stout" and a Celestion less "stout" (or not-stout, depending on whether stout is binary or analog)?
How exactly would one construct a punch-o-meter?
If I change the chassis metal from steel to aluminum, does the stoutness/punchiness/cleanness/clearness change? Which is another way of asking does everything change these four characteristics, or are some materials/brands/etc. neutral or opposing to punchiness, e.g.?
If all the resistors are Takman, what would happen if you replaced just one with an Iskar or a Piher? What would happen if you swapped all the Takman resistors with Xicon, Vishay, or generic Chinese counterfeit floor sweepings?
Would it make the amp sound more Fender-y if all the resistors were swapped with resistors pillaged from a vintage Fender?
Could you publish a list of what brands of resistors do what to an amp? Does one or another brand make an amp sound just ...louder... so the headbangers could use this as a reference in a build? Does a brand exist that makes an amp sound soul-ier?
What is measurable? >>Why<< does measurement even matter?

Re: Takman resistors
Well, JBLs make glassbreak.
I attribute most things to audible hiss. It's a defocusing thing like dithering a segmented waveform to take the zipper several octaves up out with a gentle sssss that competes with the noise floor up there. Tak is a certain different hiss than Pihers in a plexi base amp.
I know. Annoying. Just like shit in series with a mic amp but defeated still changing the spacial identity.
Taks make amps brighter. hehehe
Happy Thanksgiving!

Good to know.
So how do you measure "punch"?
