Easy enough fix in the grand scheme of things in the tube amp world!
The reason it failed in the first place is the same thing that can happen if the amp is played with a open circuit on the speaker output for a long enough time.
The open circuit makes the transformer primary arc across itself, but many amps have a shorting type speaker jack so when no load / speaker is plugged in the short across the jack stops arcing from taking place .
The input side of reverb circuits and pans have no such protection so it's important to driver transformer life that the cable used to feed the pan are good , there connected well and no tarnish is on the Aluminum of the connector and that the fine wires on inside of the pan on the rca jack never break off as they do many times.
I like to place a dab of clear Tub sealer on these fine wires to hold them permanently in place because many times this is where they break off from even though they are clamped down on the rear of the jack and or at the solder joint or connector of the coil at each end of the spring pan itself.
Any of these issues will make for a open circuit and the primary side of the reverb driver transformer is always being driven when playing the amp .
A open on the output / return side of the reverb pan will never make for a problem other then hum.
On a output transformer we can place a 250 ohm 5 to 10 watt resistor in case a bad cable or speaker(s) make for a damaging open circuit condition.
With the input of Fender amps like this with a transformer driven reverb circuit I guess we could do the thing but use a 3 watt 250 ohm resistor across the send jack in the amp.
