Can someone with authority please delete this post or move it to an off topic index?! I read through the entire thing trying to get to the subject of this post... What a waste of time!

tubedogsmith wrote:Well, that answers that. What exactly did/does your buddy bring to the conversation here. He promotes you and your amp line, and he doesn't like Brandon. OK, we all get that. What else?
Again distortion of the facts...... Please read this entire thread, it was regarding the Ceriatione HRM...........Correct?

A) Look who spoke first and the negative comments they spewed onto this thread.

B) I chimed in because I own a Ceriatone and sick and tired of listening to Scott & Brandon and his clan bash Ceriatone / Nik. Totally classless, and foolish.

C) Look at the childs play that goes on in the previous post here......Ceriation...Lead dress issues.......blah...blah...blah = bull crap!

D) I have had many amps in my hands for repair ect.... that come from folks that are well known in these circles and guess what..... you do not hear me bashing the builders and never will.
As a matter of fact I will not name the builder, an amp was in my hands last weekend from the so called select few. Guess what??????? Entire board was loose......Output transformer screws loose ect.... Brand new amp....Vibrating like a Harley and sounded like a Harley. Owner could not believe it!

E) Regarding my character, ask Alan

F) Why I like Alan's amps.....well they are extremely well made, Engineering is done correctly, Layout, Component selection, Original design, Continuously Tested & Refined, and to top it of, integrity, honesty, values..

It takes class brother!

All I ask is stop the bashing and get back to Ceriatione HRM and how it kicks ass!

Take yer Ceriatone to The Gear Page. Those are guys who buy stuff. We're guys who build stuff.

I'm sure your Malaysian clone kicks ass compared to your Thai clone.

[quote="CaseyJones We're guys who build stuff.

I think that pretty much sums up everything,so why all of the arguments over two builders?as far as the malasyian crap that is kind of confusing to me because neither of the two builders actually manufacture the parts that go into the amps that they build, all of us who have built dumble "clones" try to use parts that are standard dumble fare,6ps ,rn65's ,metalfilm resistors ect. so what makes the ceria tone crap are the tranny's sub par?for sure brandon has the experience inside actual dumbles and that's great definately gives him an edge making acurate clones, but if some home builder wants to buy parts from nik and build himself an amp thats cool too.

I guess i'm a equal opprutnity cloner and hope they both make a million bucks

Just so you all know, we are in-fact dealing with NFB from the gear page.

Just another Know it all with an opinion regarding something he has absoluteley no Idea about. You don't like me don't buy one of my amps, that simple. otherwise please take a hike, this place is for AMP BUILDERS, not for homeless gear pagers.

If I had ocassion to work on someone's amp who frequents this site and found a quality control issue I would contact the builder and engage in constructive conversation. We should be helping each other out here for the benefit of great amp building. That's what this site is - an amp building site for tonal (and reliable) excellence based on designs inspired by HAD.

I agree 100% with this. Please deal with personal issues off-forum by contacting people directly. That just shows more class. You simply cannot bash forum members for stating facts. :?

And let's build amps! :D Loud ones!

Wow...what a great thread (not!!)

Can I just check though, where do you guys stand on someone who would buy one of Nik's amps as a starting point, but then tweaks it to their own taste as and when they can afford to upgrade transformers etc...??

(Also, how does made in UK compare to made in USA???)

PS: Just a thought, if they'd had the internet and forums like this back inthe 60's, what do you think people would have made of Jim Marshall "cloning" Leo Fender's bassman circuit for financial gain...!!

Please lets discuss circuits like eg. Gary Glasman posted about today on the reverb recovery! :D

AdrianJ do you have any thing to discuss circuitwise?

Let's keep this on track and not turn into Harmony Central!

Adrian, yes, using the OTS as a tweaking platform is a good idea....

Btw, you guys should look at the gut shots of the OTS HRM. Lots of questionable circuit decisions, IMHO.

Can you be more specific?
I bought a OTS (not HRM though) ampkit that I am putting together right now.
Since this is only my 3th amp that I'm putting together, I sure have a lot more to learn. (did learn a lot already on this forum, THANK YOU GUYS!)

Jezz, if you look in the files section,HiGain has some schematics that are most helpful. You can look at those and compare to what Nik has done with his iteration.

My understanding is the OTS is a decent design, the only issues seen have been lead dress. Make sure you download as many Dumble pics as you can from the files section and follow the real thing's lead dress.

At times it looks wrong, for example he runs the plate and cathode leads parallel on V1 and V2. The looks wrong compared to the lead dress rules and other amps, but on a Dumble this makes a subtle difference in the smoothness of the amp.

What I see on the HRM is that there are both an HRM and snubbers on V2. I've seen at least one Dumble like this, and one of my amps needs small snubbers with the HRM but in general you want one or the other, not both.

I'm not sure what else dogears saw, but that one jumped out at me.

Good luck with the build, when in question, take pics and post questions, lots of help here.
