That coating on your wire you used makes me darn sure you have a bad connection or two and you should go thru and reheat all of your solder connections once you narrow down what section is cutting out.
I guess you have never fixed a lead connection in a transformer before.
Those very very fine winding wires have an enamel coating on them to act as an insulation.
If you do not get them hot enough to burn away that enamel and use enough flux to flow away that flux residue then your solder will never ever stick / bond things together.

Re: Output Impedance error
So I tested the amp last night... I poked it with the chopstick, the heaters everthing, then I used a screwdriver to test all the gain stages...
Nothing wrong with the damn thing! I dunno what to do now

So I moved to my new house, and I decided to fire the amp up. V1 V2 and V3 didnt seem to get hot, so I opened it up and sure as hell I found a bad connection, quickly sorted it out. Then put it all back together and I got the low signal once again.
The heater wires are fine. I have tried all testing and the problem still persists

I think the root cause of your troubles may be soldering technique? I would do a careful inspection of all solder joints and reflow any that are suspect.

I think you are correct. It will be a task that will take me a large amount of time I suspectmartin manning wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2026 10:59 am I think the root cause of your troubles may be soldering technique? I would do a careful inspection of all solder joints and reflow any that are suspect.

It shouldn't take too long to go over the chassis mounted components like pots, jacks, and tube sockets. If you still have problems and decide to look under the board, that might be a bigger job. Luckily, IIRC, the flying leads come up through the PCB, and so the solder connections are visible from the top.desertmouth90 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2026 11:07 amI think you are correct. Re: Output Impedance error
BTW, what kind of solder are you using, and what kind of soldering tool do you have? 60-40 Pb-Sn is much easier to work with than Pb-free, and a temperature controlled soldering iron is IMO a must.

Soldering Iron set at 400C. I will go over it, maybe I rushed it with my lead dress
