ODS #77

Post by Indybeez »

I did a quick search on the serial number, and nothing popped up, so I thought I would post. ODS #77, built for Terry Haggerty in 1977 is for sale for $60K.

The description says a Dumbleator was added.

Anyway, enjoy!

I'm no expert at all, but wouldn't it be very unlike HAD to add a dumbleator control in that manner, or to install an internal dumbleator at all? Sure, there aren't many other spots to put it on the back panel, but he could have moved some stuff around instead...

I'd be more inclined to say that it's been modded by someone else.

I was thinking the same thing. With the added tube, the lead dress would be totally out of the window, surely? Lead dress seems to play such a significant role in HAD's work. I'd certainly be interested to know if there are many other documented examples of this.

Cheers,

Paul.

I agree (but I'm no expert). I don't think Dumble would place the added pot/knob where it ends up covering his name on the amp.

On the other hand ..... he is the only person in the world that could do that and get away with it clean.

I just noticed the foot switch has two cords coming out, with two 5-pin jacks. What do your think the extra jack is for?

Thanks,

Single knob Dumbleator? I do like the addition of an on/off switch for the effects loop. Maybe the alternate cord controls that instead.

I worked with Kimbo from 2007 to 2010. We were both at Peavey. He was a sales rep, and I was the head designer in the custom amp shop at the time. I played this amp several times. (as well as the ODS head he had) All the mods were done by Dumble in an effort to get this amp closer to the sound of the head. It never quite got there. Kimbo did not particularily like this amp. The head was incredible though. (I've posted about the head in the past)
