John Mayer and Milkman

Post by Structo »

John is apparently playing through a Milkman Steel amp.

Did he buy directly from Milkman?

I wouldn't be surprised if Phil provided at least the backline. Possibly even the guitar - John is playing a guitar that I have not seen him with in other videos.

Mayer sounds SO much better when you can't see him.

All those hours in front of the mirror wasted.

I heard in an interview (uh with milkman of course, why would I listen to a John Mayer interview?) that JM called him wanting a steel amp to get "Jerry Garcia like cleans". I think it was the gear talk podcast perhaps.

Turns out JM must have good ears because as Milkman found out later, the steel circuit shares some similarities with the alembic modded twins of Garcia...

Mayer has a funny line in "Get Hard". He's playing a private party and whispers to his guest guiar player (Will Ferrell) "Want to see 100 girls all get wet at the same time?" and starts playing Daughters on acoustic.

A really awesome performance, I think. Copping the Jerry/Bobby vibe is no easy thing. Who's the guy next to JM with what looks like Jerry's Travis Bean from the 70's? He was smokin', too and the guy playing Bobby shows us some good stuff -- not just rhythm. Phil was grinning. How'd he pull that off?

John contacted Tim directly with this photo but I believe the amp was for sale at a dealer.

But I believe recently, John got his own stack directly from Tim.

Hi guys!

John bought the amp directly from me. Then he bought two of my 20W Creamers. It's been an incredible boost for milkman!

I love that he is using the amps!

Congrats on winning the John Mayer lotto. 'Milk' it for all it's worth.
