I saw that today too. In the past it has just been
Too Many Requests
The user has sent too many requests in a given amount of time.
Here the offending user has been identified, maybe?

I've had a lot of connection problems these last few days, and indeed, I often get the message "too many requests."martin manning wrote: ↑Fri Oct 10, 2025 9:42 am I saw that today too. In the past it has just been

... specially today !!!
Re: errors on the forum last couple of days...
I see the "Too Many Requests" error frequently. Also, the site logs me off and then says I entered the wrong password when I try to log on.

Re: errors on the forum last couple of days...
Both are basically because the hosting provider has no attack throttling measures so there's some kind of bot spamming the site so much it hits some max capacity allowed per 'time window' not sure if that's per minute or what,
Nothing we can do here because the site domain owner doesn't want to do anything to improve the site in any way so it'll continue to get worse over time I'm sure.

This is annoying and unfortunate. I imagine that fixing it requires some expense, and may increase the cost of keeping the forum up and running going forward, which the owner is not willing to absorb. Ads or member subscriptions (neither of which anybody wants), are potential sources of funding. A sponsorship by one or more of the specialty electronics suppliers (where forum members spend money) would be a less intrusive and mutually beneficial solution. Thanks for keeping an eye on things.

I'd wager he'd be against any of those anyway. IMHO the only real fix would be to basically migrate content elsewhere, with someone willing to host it and keep it running there. I've just not had time lately and considering injuries to my hand make it so I can't play guitar anymore in any significant way, I've stopped playing and building amps. Mine are collecting dust and I've been considering selling them at this point.martin manning wrote: ↑Tue Oct 14, 2025 11:54 am This is annoying and unfortunate. Until that happens, hopefully there is a backup of everything on the forum. Beyond the schematics and layouts, the discussions around them are very helpful. There is so much information here that would be tragically lost should the forum get vaporized.pompeiisneaks wrote: ↑Tue Oct 14, 2025 4:35 pm ...IMHO the only real fix would be to basically migrate content elsewhere, with someone willing to host it and keep it running there.

I back it up from time to time, but I don't have the time/bandwidth to constantly sync it, so my backups would need to basically be done again right before any kind of 'move' if we were to go that route... Again, not sure it's feasible yet anyway.BILL7718 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 06, 2025 6:15 pmUntil that happens, hopefully there is a backup of everything on the forum. Re: errors on the forum last couple of days...
Couldn't log on earlier this afternoon from my Mac and was getting a Too Many Requests error. A little while later it loaded on my PC so I went back to the Mac and found that it wasn't the computer but that if I re-loaded after getting the error, I was able to access.
Really hope this valuable and much appreciated resource and community remains online. Over the past three years of trying to make a guitar website work that is likely not going to be renewed after 2026 is over, I learned a *ton* but also now have first-hand awareness of the costs involved just to keep something online. All to say with the costs I'm paying year to year, I know first-hand that I don't know. As in, I realistically don't have any idea how communities like this are funded/hosted or what is behind keeping them online. In my case I was trying to make a guitar platform/subscription work using a combination of GoDaddy with a Kajabi website to the tune of thousands per year that I've absorbed for years without recouping from product. So obviously that's not a viable solution or suggestion. But on the extremely off chance there's ever anything I can do to help that I'm aware how to, don't hesitate to let me know.
