Re: picked up a hammond AO-35
I have built a few Brown Note Lite IIb amps out of them. Myself and many others liked them.

Re: Good amp building video
Playing aside, there were some clean tones that sounded reasonably good, and in skilled hands, would shine through. But then he turns it up, and the harshness shows up. It could also be blocking distortion Could also be a crappy mic on the cam. I have had that trouble before. Sounded great in perso...

Re: Good amp building video
I was REALLY surprised to see that he wasn't flaring out the back side of his turret lugs. Probably OK for an amp that isn't regularly on the road though. Loved the carbon fiber stuff! Anyone here playing around with that medium? Thanks again, Dave O. I was thinking the same thing about the turrets...

Re: NO NO
You will not get any reading on your DVM if the speaker is blown. Generally speaking this is true but not always. I guess it depends on the definition of "blown". If you "bottom out" the voice coil in the magnet and cause a mechanical separation and the speaker still makes sound but rattles and pop...

Update to "what Gibson amp is this". Help needed
Original thread is here http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25701 It's a Gibson EH-125 but with a different tube layout than any others that I have seen. So I replaced all of the caps which was really straight forward. I also added a 3-prong checked and swapped tubes, cords, etc. The sound I ...

Re: What Gibson amp is this?
I've got a callous on the pinky finger of my picking hand from the use of volume/tone pots! :P No Fargen stomp boxes for me! Although I do dearly love my "tweaked to personal taste" wah-wah! Gene You have what on your what? I have a roll of duct tape holding together my reading/soldering ...

Re: What Gibson amp is this?
You can make a pedal that is nothing more than a volume pot. Kick it "on" for rhythm playing, bypass for leads. I have some salvaged organ parts around here somewhere. Volume pedal from a Hammond organ. Mechanically it works about like a Cry Baby. I save everything for parts down to nuts and bolts....

Re: What Gibson amp is this?
I figured out that on this particular amp the volume control only affects the mic input and not the instrument inputs. Odd, but at least I now know that it is functioning as it was designed.

Re: What Gibson amp is this?
I dont have a guitar on hand today but it hums loudly when I touch the tip of the instrument chord with the pot UNhooked. I discovered this when I tried to jumper in another pot. Any thoughts? All I have changed is the e-caps so far.

Re: What Gibson amp is this?
True. I changed out the electrolytics and it fired right up although the volume seems to be on 10 no matter what it's setting is. I will check the pot and it's wiring later today.gui_tarzan wrote:It doesn't look like it would be too difficult to draw one.

Thanks for the replies. I am guessing that finding a schematic would be too much to hope for.

What Gibson amp is this?
After much research and no definitive results the best I can come up with is an EH-100. I could not find any that had this same tube line up but I read that they made several different versions most of which were not produced in large numbers. The tube line up is 6SJ7, 6J5, 6V6x2, 5Y3. Any input wou...
