Re: Ceriatone HRM - Eric Gales Two Rock Please Help

Collossal - Have you build an ODS with tube rectifiers? If so what PT did you use? I've been having a look for one with a 5V 4A tap this afternoon and can't find any! Most have a the 5V tap for the relay but it's 3A. Might have to use a second PT in parallel with the main PT, I'm sure Hammond must m...

Re: Ceriatone HRM - Eric Gales Two Rock Please Help

To be honest, I'm not well versed on the difference in the HRM and Bluesmaster circuits in terms of sound. I prefer the low gain 102/124 route myself so I'll not give you advice and have it turn out to be bad advice. As far as i'm aware they're both PODS circuits, so either will work. I would guess ...

Re: Ceriatone HRM - Eric Gales Two Rock Please Help

EL34s are power tubes and GZ34s are rectifier tubes. The full tube compliment in a TR EG is 3 12AX7 preamp tubes, 2 x EL34 power tubes and 2 GZ34 rectifier tubes. please ignore that im so bloody stupid, el34's because its solid state rectified, GZ34's because its TUBE rectified..wasn't thinking sor...

Re: Ceriatone HRM - Eric Gales Two Rock Please Help

Oh yeah, I totally forgot that thread had been posted! I even commented at the bottom :P A good read about rectifiers will be found here (really a good read about all facets of amp construction!): http://www.valvewizard.co.uk/fullwave.html Especially the parallel section, you'll want to GZ34 tubes i...

Re: Ceriatone HRM - Eric Gales Two Rock Please Help

You're most welcome, anything I can do to help. I've not seen a lot of discussion on this forum about Tube rectifiers because I know a lot of guys don't like them for various reasons, usually reliability. Also, I've not heard of HAD himself building any amps with tube rectifiers, however there are s...

Re: Ceriatone HRM - Eric Gales Two Rock Please Help

Ok, let's figure out what we know to start off with. I love TR amps and I'd love to help figure out what's going on inside the amps they no longer produced. Andertons used to carry the EG sig, here's a gutshot they posted. It's low res but it's a start! [img:500:500]http://www.andertons.co.uk/Produc...

Re: Safe power up and testing!

Thanks Structo,

Do you use those same wattage bulbs for a 50W amp?

I assume you run the first bulb limiter test (-tubes) before you connect the secondaries of the PT?
Or do you just wire all sections of the amp and start with the bulb limiter?

Safe power up and testing!

Evening all! Was just looking through the forum for advice on first fire up and testing of a new amp. Found some great build/start up orders posted by Funk and Heisthl back at Christmas '08. Here: http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4657&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=order&start=0 When f...

Re: TR Eric Gales- based off a Dumble circuit?

I've noticed a few of these TR's have tube rectifiers, the Matt Schofield one, the Exo 15 (perhaps an exception) and the Custom Reverb is available with it as an option. Anybody got any guesses as to the construction of these tube rectifier circuits? I've never really looked at them before. Also, in...

Re: Matt Schofield and his Two Rock Sig

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rboGJ89a044 Here's a great quality video of Matt playing and talking about the sig amp. When i spoke to him about it earlier in the year, he said it combined a few parts of his favourite amps then modified it to his exact specifications and added Bill at TR's Tremolo ...

Re: 6V6 adjustments

Cheers for the tip Structo, I'm pretty sure the chassis is 14"x8"x2".
What are your thoughts on the schematic?

Re: 6V6 adjustments

Matt I can't open that link. Are you still planning on four 6V6's? TM TM, you have to download the pic from dropbox. Only two 6v6 were shown. As we know, 4 x 6v6's are killer... More crisp, clear and don't smear like 2 x 6v6's do.... Matt, I would recommend you consider 4 x 6v6, but then your small...

Re: 6V6 adjustments

TM: That's correct, i'm intending to use a 2 tube format, and go with 2 6V6 tubes, I may see if i can tweak the amp so that it can accept both, but that'll be after building. Updated the schematic, i'll try posting that again [img:4722:3267]http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/6602/completeamp2.png[/i...

Re: 6V6 adjustments

Thanks for that stuff John! I'm correcting these now, I think the backward cap, missing ground and the centre tap are just errors when using ExpressSCH (this is the first schematic i have made in it). The two 10uF caps in parallel are as shown in the #124 schematics. I did wonder about this. No pres...
