Re: deluxe reverb distortion
Hi guys, just wanted to let you know that I solved all my reverb circuit problems by using a separate cathode resistor and bypass cap at V4. Now distortion is great, reverb circuit signal is super clean, 0 noise, and the bass is not bleeding to the clean signal anymore. Just for the record. :D Felipe

Re: deluxe reverb distortion
Rooster, I don't know if it's your case, but have you considered lead dress on V3? I had to make one of the bridged wires much longer and separated from the socket to stop the blocking distortion. Also replaced the 1M dwell res. with 680k. I must say, I probably spent 3 months trying to find the cau...

Re: deluxe reverb distortion
talking about reverb, is it normal that some dry low/mid signal goes trough the reverb pot? i can tell when I turn it up, even with the 500pf cap-to-V3 disconnected. Sounds way too muddy! How do I get rid of it??

Re: deluxe reverb distortion
Hi pdf64, are you sure about that you said? how does a MV force the PI to clip earlier? AFAIK, phase cancellation doesn't have anything to do with tube clipping. Of course the PI is going to clip earlier than the power tubes, and thats exactly what I wanted, to be able to distinguish between preamp ...

Re: deluxe reverb distortion
Well, voltage readings are whitin specs. I've tried without the reverb tube. In fact, I had that distortion problem with the reverb tube in the past, and i had to move around some wires. Sure, that thing is wild! The news is that yesterday i found some kind of solution which was to bias the power tu...

Re: deluxe reverb distortion
I'm starting to believe that this is related to the use of orange drop caps for everything except power filtering. Is this just nonsense or what? I always thought that old coupling caps were not bassy sounding at all...

Re: deluxe reverb distortion
I have exactly the same problem. Every tube on this amp distorts like crazy, but the cleans are good enough. I've tried everything! most of the distortion comes from the PI, and it starts distorting at 3 or 4. I have to turn the treble all the way up and the bass all the way down to get a pleasant o...
