Re: GUITAR~AMP Stompbox/Rack/Effects ~ Chain Order LineUp ADVICE

Vibratoking "For the life of me, I can't figure out why you would need this given all the other pedals on your list." Well, I want them all to play with ~ life is too short. Just wanna use them and try them out, see what sounds good. Nothing to figure out Nothing in cement Nothing set in stone Nothi...

Thanks, MavGuy.
You like a bit more "punch" out of the first tube.
Will give it a test. Much appreciated.

Re: Thanks for your Switch Box help. This is the Chosen One

After searching and reviewing AB switch boxes, comparing manufacturers, specifications, features, pricing, size, metal (versus) plastic, etc. and . . . . passive (versus) 9v battery (versus) 120v/9v wall adapter. I decided to get an ABY box that was passive, but had four (4) guitar cable ports: 1) ...

Re: GUITAR~AMP Stompbox/Rack/Effects ~ Chain Order LineUp ADVICE

I'd put the wah first. The Cry Baby loads the guitar in a way that affects the tone and is an important part of the way the effect sounds. Also, I've never heard a wah used after the distortion generating stages that sounded in any way tasteful (my opinion of course). I also feel that it works best...

GUITAR~AMP Stompbox/Rack/Effects ~ Chain Order LineUp ADVICE

Being new with rackmounts, what do you feel is a good order for my below effects? Or maybe a good theory plan for a chain of pedal/rackmount that's works for you??? My pre-amp footswitches and pedals before Fender amps and "not in any particular order" are: * Peavey RockMaster Preamp * DeArmond 1602...

Peavey Four-Tube Rockmaster Preamp for Distrotion/Overdrive

Hi. I purchased two older rackmount preamps that have yet to arrive. They'll be my first rackmount preamps committed towards distortiontone/sound/effects. This one is the Peavey RockMaster which has four 12AX7 preamp tubes and the very original Peavey footswitch (read MOST ALL third party footswitch...

Re: Would you REMOVE GOOD working filter caps on 1950s Fenders?

Especially if you or you tech saved the old parts - What's the big deal? BTW it's real hard to hear the caps degrade 'cause it's so gradual but in something transparent ie hi-end hi-fi IME the timeline is 10 years. I have Naim and an '80s Onix intergrated (both SS) and the Naim after 10 years just ...

Re: Would you REMOVE GOOD working filter caps on 1950s Fenders?

LOL, the topic of this tread begs the question. What is old, and what is good? If a filter cap is well past its expected service life, it is no longer considered good and should be replaced [1]. If it is a bank a caps, like under the dog house, I think you'd want to do all or none. Mixing old caps ...

Cygnus! Nice amp.
Is that one of the reissue tweed Champs
with PCBoards and "Made in China"?
or a real 1950's tweed Fender?

Re: AB Box Output Possibilities ~ Will ONE Wreck an Amp?

You will lose signal and some highs when driving two amp inputs at the same time, unless your box is active and has buffered outputs. Do the test I suggested in a previous post. You can't miss it. Absolutely, Vibro. I will test this "good looking ABY Box" and see if it works as pretty as it looks :...

Re: AB Box Output Possibilities ~ Will ONE Wreck an Amp?

Topper the only difference with mine and yours is I have isolation and can switch out hum issues. Yours is for running two guitars into parallel jacks and Amp A and Amp B or both Y. Hopefully, just the opposite . . . . Mostly for switching between amp A and amp B with only one guitar-in. On ocassio...

Angelo if you and Miles say it drops volume and tone I believe you and more then likely my unit does too. I just don't remember having problems on my gigs that made me go gosh darn that damn pedal is a tone sucking bastard  Mark Mark and other TAGers. I posted above the photo of the ABY box I ...

Re: List of fuses for vintage Fender amps * Good/Bad Fuse Mfgs?

This is OCD funny stuff. A fuse is a fuse. You have fast-blo and slo-blo in various ratings. Majority of Fender amps take 2 amp slo-blo. Every 5 years or so I buy another 5 pack of LittleFuse 2 amp slo-blo and put them in my gig bag. Sometimes when someone's fuse blows from mechanical, temperature ...
