Re: Fender blond Bassman vs Bandmaster tone and gain
Don't forget the old tweed 5E3 Deluxe. Tons of hit rock records have been recorded using that baby. I have a 6G6-b Bassman, a 5E3 Deluxe and a black face 65 Deluxe - all of them are great in their own way. Three different types of distortion but all have been used on plenty of great recordings. The ...

That's what I did to my 67 Silver face Bassman and I absolutely love it.ToneMerc wrote:If I was going to gut and modify a Bassman to any particular Fender circuit, it would be a 6G6B and never look back. That circuit is a sleeper.

Re: Youtube AA165 Bassman????
Both clips sound good really need to get serious about a bassman build... TM after hearing that clip and seeing your builds I think I' moving in the 6G6B direction. Did you get the brown faceplate or have it made? Darin Darin, I built those when Marsh was selling the brown repro faceplates They are...

Re: Youtube AA165 Bassman????
Ran across this on Youtube, who needs a Marshall. I actually think is a transitional 6G6B circuit and not a AA165 w/pres. Kind of hard to believe this is the normal channel and not the cascaded bass channel though. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xTfwHtgWQXo&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DxTfwHtgWQXo TM[/...

Just saw this old thread and was wondering if you have a contact number, email address since I've been looking for a fender 2 - 12 guitar cabinet to go along with my 6G6-B Bassman head.M Fowler wrote:Sorry, I pay the same price for tolexed complete cabs.

Re: Silver face Bassman to 6G6-B Bassman
Well I Did IT! It turned out great! I bought the parts I needed for the conversion from Marsh amps and I used parts from the Silver face Bassman including the transformers and the amp sounds fantastic. I have owned and still own some really nice amps including 1965 Vox AC 30, Vox AC 15, Fender Delux...

Adding a bias pot to a Fender 6G6-B Bassman amp curcuit
I would like to add a bias pot to the original 6G6-B Bassman circuit. Can anyone provide a diagram on how to wire the pot into the circuit. I have a spare 10K biasing pot from a 67 silverface AB 165 amp. P.S. It was suggested that I could use the Bassman AA864 diagram layout to add the bias control ...

Re: Silver face Bassman to 6G6-B Bassman
Take a look at both layouts and schematics and mod away. :D My problem is that I have seen 6 or more 6G6 schematics and don't know which one is the best to use. I owned a blonde Tremolux with 6l6s in it and the presence control and I loved the way it sounded (until the output transformer blew). I w...

Re: Silver face Bassman to 6G6-B Bassman
Have you the actual SF Bassman? Modding them is pie as they are laid out clearly and have no extras like reverb and tremolo. I modded the power amp of my 864 to 6G6 specs. I then used the bright switch as a presence for both channels (moving the switch to "On" switched in a .1UF cap with a 4.7K res...

Silver face Bassman to 6G6-B Bassman
Is this doable?
Anyone out there that's done this mod? - late 60s Bassman to mid 60's Bassman Head.
Is there a kit available?

Volume Pot Taper On Vox AC 30
I have a 1965 Grey Panel Vox AC 30. I replaced the original Egen 500K log volume pot on the top boost channel with a new CTS 500K log pot and now the taper feels wrong. Instead of a gradual smooth volume build the amp gets loud too fast. On my meter the Egen pot is 491 K - the CTS is 460K. Are those...

Re: Tube rectifiers; let's argue.
I've played thousands of gigs since the 1970s & done thousands of recording sessions- most of my amps have had tube rectifiers - maybe I've been lucky but I've never had one fail. My biggest tube problems have been power tubes - that said they haven't been too big of a problem. I have tried SS recti...
