Looks like I owe Tino an apology for misspelling his last name so many times. I wrote it down wrong on my bench the first time I saw it.
Sorry Mr. Zottola

Finally finished
Well this one's in the books finally with the completion of tuned cab built to EV TL-606 specs with 15"Weber bass speaker. I may revisit this build with tolex cover someday, but not for now. Amp head with removable front for easy access to tubes, vented screens front and back to keep tubes cool. I b...

Re: Drilling finished amp
I wouldn't think drilling on it would be much different than playing it on 9 or 10
I've done it many times to add line out jack.

I used Weber W022848 40w 4k primary, 4ohm secondary OT.
Weber W022798 40w 720v/660v PT
Here's the new house I built for her (Peggy Sue)

Re: Tino Z's 5b6 ptp
I used 500v 47/22/22 because I had them.
To me it sounds great.
I'll probably try a choke just 'cause I'm a curious type. If I don't like it I'll yank it out.
I wish I'd had one of these 30 years ago!

Re: Tino Z's 5b6 ptp
Got it together and found one of the new 6L6s was shorted. I put a 5881 in its place for testing. After taking care of a screaming issue it settled down nicely. This amp is so quiet its hard to believe it has all these long leads! There is only the slightest oscillation with my bass but I kind of di...

Re: Tino Z's 5b6 ptp
This is the pitts!! I finished it last night, and did some final checking and testing. I managed to get all NOS tubes from an electronics supply that's going out of business 50 miles away. They were all in original boxes...except one! Seems as though a rectifier tube was placed in one of the 6l6 box...

weber speakers
Does anyone know if Weber speakers are made in USA? Their website has a banner which states all speakers and products are made by hand, which led me to believe that they make them here but the tranny I bought had a made in China sticker on one of its leads. Do they import "made by Chinese hands spea...

Re: Tino Z's 5b6 ptp
As I see it, that is an effects send/return...right?
So if I tap the input side of the vol pot I'd get a constant signal for line out independent of amp volume, and tapping the wiper, the line out would be variable, dependent on volume pot... or am I missing some theory?

Re: Tino Z's 5b6 ptp
Thanks M Fowler... I don't intend using without speaker as the amp will be my monitor. The line out off the speaker jack is not a good idea either because I don't want to change audience level if I need more or less stage level. I could just mike it but a line out would be easier since we only do on...

Re: Tino Z's 5b6 ptp
Anyone tapped a line out on this amp?
Best place and configuration would be appreciated.

Re: Tino Z's 5b6 ptp
Thanks guys. I know the "electro/math" as my mentor called it. I was just wondering if anybody used higher values on this particular circuit which has a reputation (justified or not) of being finicky. I've played through three, two of which were combos which were a bit flabby and microphonic with a ...

Tino Z's 5b6 ptp
Can anyone venture a guess as to the effects of using 47/22/22 filters instead of 30/20/20 in such a finicky build as octal 5b6.
I have a drawer full of 47s and 22s
A lot of posts I've read say 5b6s are kind of hit or miss, but tino's ptp is usually a great.

Re: new year amp plans?
I'm going into my basement and will not come out until I discover the scientific formula for MOJO so I can put it in all my amps.
