Re: installed new cones in some CTS speakers

Try using "airplane dope" or anything containing "glyptal". This is closest to actual speaker dope

Re: G12-65 TL806

The port option on a 806 does not, in itself, extend lows. If you read E.V.'s spec chart what the "step down" mode alows is extension by equalisation . With the port cover on, the suspension of the driver is a little tighter and will allow heavier equalisation without mechanical failure. Also the ov...

Re: celestion tube 30

I recently purchased 2 Tube 30 10". They sound good with whatever amp I use them with. So if the Celestion sound is what you want....go for it..or look into offerings from Warehouse speakers

Re: just bought 2x EV force 12's any thoughts?

It kills me when I read "Dumble Cabinet". There is absolutely nothing special about that design. An oval opening in the back is just an aesthetically pleasing way to make an open back-it is not a unique design by any stretch. As far as Force speakers go, they were an attempt by E.V. to make a more a...

Re: The Howling

Had a rottie mix that would howl everytime the fire sirens went off up in Long Beach N.Y. He would punctuate his howling with " a-woo-woo" . When you would look at him while howling, he would stop and almost looked embarrassed...lol

Re: What speaker for low to medium volume?

Actually if you can find a G12s30 -they are a good balanced speaker and are rated at only 93db...small magnet...but will handle the same power as a G12H30

Re: epiphone sheraton ii or gibson es-335

Just to play "devil's advocate"..I have recently discovered the wonderful world of Japanese guitars. It's very hard to find better craftsmanship than on Japanese made instruments.....some of the best Fenders were made in Japan in the '80's. I recently picked up a Epiphone Japan(non-Elitist) ES335 in...

Trinity Amps Triwatt

Has anyone built Trinity's Triwatt? It looks like it might be a great low wattage Hiwatt style platform...does anyone know of any other low power Hiwatt style kits?

Be careful of the "white frame" alnico SRO's . Many of their frames failed due to the weight of the magnet.

Re: 421H Altec

The thing that strikes many guitarists is the pure efficiency of speakers like Altecs, JBL, ElectroVoice and Gauss. Many are many db more efficient accross a wider bandwith than say Jensens,Celestion and a good portion of Emminence guitar speakers. They are also flatter in response..less peaky. It ma...

Altec speaker

Keep in mind that Altec(and JBL)speakers are designed to be used in ported enclosures...it's power handling is about 1/2 in an open back cab. Since it has the aluminum dust cap it has more highs than you would think. In fact I never liked Altecs for guitar as they have a peak caused by that dust cap...
