Is the wire that feeds that pot running anywhere near either of the PI output coupling caps?

Re: Replace overdrive pedal with real tube?

Since your now unused tube is somewhere down stream of the first gain stage of the amp if you implement what your thinking of doing you will more then likely have a oscillating monster on your hands, especially if you only use one section of that tube since that will change the phase of the whole am...

Re: Illinois brand capacitors still bad?

Don’t forget with these great little testers to discharge the cap before testing.

My co worker killed is tester 3 days after he built it with a charged up 450 volt cap.

You need to confirm after discharging that there is no more voltage left in the cap then the battery that powers it.

Here’s a 1000uf 50v Rubycon that swollen and starting to leak and it still test out at only .94 ohms, unfortunately it’s only 5 years old.

Re: Can I Parallel 2 Mosfets in VVR?

They also need to be mounted right next to each other so that all wire length used is the shortest. Also I consider the leads of semiconductors as part of its built in heat sink and as such contributing to the items wattage rating. For Zener diodes used in tube amps ( especially if near the output t...

Re: ID this tube?

It rang a bell to me since I have had a few great Marconi tubes over the decades, and instead of diving into one of my amps that has one in it to get a photo for you I went to the Tube World Express site for a photo.

Re: Two 20 watt amps in one chassis - layout/grounding

To have more front panel real estate you might consider stacked pots for two of the tone controls.

To get a nice leg up on a two channel amp layout in one chassis you might want to check out the schematic of a big stereo tube amp like a HH Scott 272.

Re: ID this tube?

Due to the large area of white lettering that tube has and the size and shape of the plates and the round getter I think this is what your tube is, or atleast the brand that it is.

Re: Bad power?

It would not be the first time that a utility step down transformer out on a pole took a indirect hit of lightning and all the utility company did was replace whichever fuse blew, leaving a somewhat defective transformer out on the pole. If you know any of your neighbors there see if you can try a a...

Re: Bad power?

Plug a voltmeter into the other outlet in that wall socket to
1st see what you have for wall voltage .
2) to see if it drops down when you play the amp.

Re: Not Amp Stuff, but Speaker Dope...

That dope is a high voltage insulating lacquer and will dry too stiff even though it may say its flexible. You want a latex product . You can use very thinned out white Elmer’s glue applying a little at a time, or better yet this product. Either way test it the stuff out on a cheap old blown 6 or 8”...

Re: Gibson GA-50 tone stack

It might interest you to see the schematic for my 54 GA77. This amp sounds amazing and especially when you jump both channels. Anyone of the 30 or so that have played it want to buy it. This model amp was made in true Gibson fashion with like 3 different tube complements this version is the most rar...
