Re: pilot light bulb for 2nd generation

Strange thing happen ... a few days ago I asked the owner of #0030 for some information about the amp soundwise (overdrive+reverb etc.). When he wanted to test it to be sure to answer my questions correct the amp that I praised so much started to fail. :? He has a loud buzz in CL mode that changes a...

Re: pilot light bulb for 2nd generation

I think Max is correct, it's certainly looks like two point mount 35W OT 022848. +1 Maybe they took this one 'cause they needed space for the reverb spring. Just a thought ... ...and... 35W :?: - I always thought it's not HADs style to dimension things on the low side. Must have been done by Applie...

Re: pilot light bulb for 2nd generation

Juergen (Runaway J), It would be great if you could post some inside shots of this ODR-50w. Is that at all possible? We'd all love to see the inside. Looks like a fantastic amp! You can bet there's nobody out there who would love to see the inside more than me :) . From our first conversation I can...

Re: pilot light bulb for 2nd generation

Hi Max, yes, now that you’ve said it – that OT realy doesn’t look like a bassman OT. I don’t know any reason for that, but I doubt that the owner is lying when he says that he never had the amp repaired. Maybe Applied Acoustics got the amp from HAD without the transformers and stuffed this thing in....

Re: pilot light bulb for 2nd generation

... btw - the tubes.
The Amp is completely original and has never been opened.
Told the owner that the death cap should be removed.
Cheers,

Re: pilot light bulb for 2nd generation

Hi,
so this is the amp and its pilot light.
Flanged base, so far is clear. Think I'll find it now.
Thanks everyone.

Re: pilot light bulb for 2nd generation

Hi Max, Thanks for the information. I think the pilot light could be Arcoelectric LH A62/63 or LH M62/63. http://www.arcolectric.com/pdfs/USA_cat199_pages/Cat199_page_75_2006.pdf So both flange base and screw base for the bulb could be possible. But I guess you're rigth. More likely flange base. I a...

Re: pilot light bulb for 2nd generation

... forgot to mention: according to the dumblebook applied acoustics only imported 1 ODSR to germany. So this is it.

Re: pilot light bulb for 2nd generation

Hi Jelle and Max, 'Dumble #unknown 10' IS the amp I'm talking about and it is #030. As I mentioned in an earlier thread my brother was the first owner of that amp. The picture is of poor quality 'caus it's a scan I've made from an old photo I got from my brother. After his band split up he had the c...

pilot light bulb for 2nd generation

Hi,
talked with the owner of an 2nd generation ODSR today.
He is playin' that amp since the early 80s without ever
changing a single part or having the amp repaired.
The only thing broken is the bulb of the pilot ligth (since 2005 or so).
Can anyone point me to a correct replacement ?
Thanks!

Re: Jim Kelley Attenuator

I listened to the recordings. Have you tried JK's attenuator in-person with a real guitar and amp? When and if you do, I suspect that you will no longer be as impressed by the recording. This has been my experience, FWIW.[/quote] Never had a chance to try one. That's why I'm asking stupid questions ...

Re: Jim Kelley Attenuator

Hi guys, thanks for your opinions. I'm sure that VVR has it's advantages and there are lots of nice attanuators on the market. But ... did you listen to JK's recordings ? OK, it's hard to compare, but from what i've seen and heard on youtube the JK-attenuator is better than most of that stuff + it i...

Re: Jim Kelley Attenuator

Thanks for answering selloutrr, what makes me wonder is that when I do the calculation I get special combinations of resistor values for each step of attenuation, but those rheostats are linear taper and when staggered would never exactly match that values. Should only result in a tolerable impedanc...

Re: Jim Kelley Attenuator

Bump.
I'd like to know a bit more about the JK attenuator. The sound examples on his page are impressive IMO.
Jim states that it's just a standard L-pad design, using two 100W ohmite rheostats.
Does anyone here have a gutshot or a schematic or can tell the values of the rheos ?
