2xEL84 Liverpool?
I have a spare 2xEL84 chassis that has punches for 3x preamp tubes and an octal socket. I had two of these and built a Matchless Lightning inspired amp with the first one. The amp below it is my Rocket from the first RJ Rocket build thread. https://i.postimg.cc/6Q11f14n/IMG_1276.jpg I was considerin...

Re: Peter Mather and his amp cabs
I reached out to get another cab made a month or so ago and heard he was not taking orders due to a medical event. Sucks. RIP. He did make great cabs and was true pro to me every time.

Re: Rocket/ZWreck inspired build
Thanks.
Faceplate was done with a laser etcher I think. I bought it with the chassis.

Rocket/ZWreck inspired build
Haven't posted here in a while and haven't been building much but I finally finished a sort of Rocket/Zwreck hybrid build using a Rocket prototype chassis (acquired from RJ some time ago). No Comfort/Speed switch...it's forever in comfort and has ~275vdc on the power tube plates. Just recently got a...

Re: Dumble or Rivera Quiana
Since it's a Rivera video I'd guess the two I thought sounded best were the Quiana. The other two sound anemic in comparison. Agree about the playing.

Re: Rocket/Rockster mods
Are you sure it's working correctly and putting out full power? It might not scream like an Express but it should be loud and full. Adding a cathode bypass cap to V1-3 is definitely a viable mod, the Zwreck has it. A snubber cap is often more for stability (shunts uber high frequencies) and with the...

Re: Family get-together
Impressive family photos! Electron, which one do you like/end-up-playing the most? Or is that mood/style dependent?

Re: is the LNFB on the return side of the dumbleator necessary?
Can you somehow do a blind test between the two to see if you can even tell a difference? 20M is a lot of resistance. I'm sure someone like dogears can but tinears (me) can't. In any case, try it both ways and decide which you like better.

Re: Rocket/rockster choke wiring, OT primary and other questions
Just my opinion but an amp like the Rocket doesn't need a loop. When cranked, all the distortion happens so late in the circuit that it will occur after just about any loop you use so you haven't helped anything by adding a loop. Generally, effects loops are designed so the distortion occurs before...

Re: next build - advice?
There's also the option of external D'lator vs. one integrated into the amp. IIRC, the consensus is that the external D'lator sounds/behaves a little better but then there is the simplicity (in use) of the built-in loop. For me, with an amp like an ODS a loop is absolutely essential but others might...

Re: PAB mode, adding bass
Here's yet another. It's similar to the one above except it connects the added cap on the other side of the .002, effectively putting the 560pF in parallel with the 390pF (and the sum of those is still in series with the .002uF when Mid-boost is OFF). My amp is a high-plate HRM with BM/Marshall powe...

Re: Any fingerpickers?
I probably play half the time without a pick, mainly just because often I just pick it up and start playing and don't even think about it (and have done so for years, amp building/modding has its own 'influence' on our playing I think). Kind of different/outside-the-box but Andy Mckee does some pret...
