Re: 5F6A Bassman clone, layout review please!
I'm using the NFB values from RobRob's site, I assume he did it right! "If your 5F6A feedback is tapped off an 8 ohm speaker output like mine then your 5F6A feedback resistor should be 56k to give the same amount of feedback as the original 5F6A's 2 ohm output with a 27k feedback resistor. You shoul...

5F6A Bassman clone, layout review please!
Building a 5F6A Tweed Bassman clone based on Rob Robinette's site. Maybe a head only or a 1 x 12 or 2 x 10 combo. I'll be using it only at home but I tend to pass my builds on to my nephews who gig in bars and clubs. Looking to add the following mods: Multi-tap OT with at least 4 and 8 ohms. I guess...

Re: New AB673 deluxe reverb combo build
I built a RobRob Fender Princeton Reverb delete and found these mods the most useful. Very similar topology so the results should apply - master volume, I did PPIMV as I read somewhere that in the AB763 topology most of the distortion is from the preamp stages. I’ll be interested in your results if ...

Re: Fender Super Reverb / VibroVerb 1 x 12 recommendations
Thanks, dual DR is an interesting approach!
I'm oscillating between DR and VV as the base, with an OT that can handle a 1x12 extension cabinet. Given he has a 6V6 Deluxe, I'm leaning 6L6 VibroVerb with a master to tame volume when needed.

Nice work, I may be able to use this as a starting point.

Re: Fender Super Reverb / VibroVerb 1 x 12 recommendations
First glance that is a Vibro King backend with no NFB? I was thinking about gluing the Vibro King reverb section to an AB763 backend with a 3-way NFB switch, with one position = none. Since you have gone thru this, what are the differences to the AB763 backend?

Fender Super Reverb / VibroVerb 1 x 12 recommendations
Looking to build the following amp for my nephew. He plays a Strat with his band in bars, clubs and breweries both indoors and outdoors unmiked almost all of the time. He has used his original 1964 Deluxe (no reverb), but it is not loud or clean enough plus he doesn't want to risk it when out and ab...

Re: Dialing in a VHT D50
Thanks for the responses. My basic question is whether it makes a good modding platform or if I should just build one from scratch. Done it before and I don't mind doing it again.
Even with the head at $650 used, seems if you have to throw out the iron, tubes and components the answer is no.

Dialing in a VHT D50
Considering a D50 as a starting point for a kinda #102 Dumbly amp rather than building from scratch. I like the idea of jumping straight into the optimization process. I've read thru all the relevant posts (and rants) and want to try and summarize. How would you rank the potential changes, from high...
