Re: D-style head cabinet and bisquit joinery

I've been using bisquits for a while now, and have had no problems, even with speaker cabs. I also figure mine with the top and bottom over the sides, thinking the chassis weight will be distributed while sitting.
My machine is a DeWalt I traded from a friend.

Re: pedal boards

I envy you "furniture" builders!
I have build cabs, and even road cases, but if I didn't cover them with something, they would sure be ugly!

Re: Cabinet modifications.

Thought I'd update with the old Jensen EM speaker installed, sounds great! (The folks at Weber reconed it for me!)

Re: Original JBL D130

I traded for a UL Twin a while back with the orange frame JBL's, I know most Twins have casters, but this one really needs them!
My plan is to split it up into head/speaker cab.

Re: How to pull apart a XLR connector?

As I recall, the body of the connector is where the screw threads are, righty/tighty moves the screw into the body, and out of the outer shell hole. Then slide it out.

Re: Custom back panel idea for twin reverb.

I have no scientific reason, but I use the diameter of the speaker horizontally and 1/3 vertically. Seems to enhance the bottom end, more than you might expect.

The D120's I have are doped, as well as the K130's.

Great job!
I have an 18W build in the works, and hope to get some piping experience with that cab.

Cabinet modifications.

I got this cab with a kit build several years ago. I recently got around to installing the chassis, and nothing fit! The chassis almost stuck out of the front, the grill was too short, and had to be moved inward. I built a spacer for the grill/chassis opening, and moved everything inward, decided to...

Re: importance of air-tightness in a cab?

I use sealant on all the joints, does it help, I don't know!
I don't worry about the jacks, though I have seen plugs for sealing them. Once, (at a very loud venue), I did blow the 1/4 plug out of a bass bin!

Re: Avatar is now selling speaker cabinet kits

I too use biscuits with success. Whether a combo, or just a speaker cab, the baffle adds reinforcement to the joint. Also in the combo, the weight of the chassis is supported by the sides when resting, and by the top when carried.

Re: New build TL806 loaded with VIntage EVM12L and EVI12L

The L does stand for lead, I have one in my '81 Music Man. I used a 15B for my wife's bass cab. If you are interested, I built some cabs using some plans I drew up for some mid cabinets back in the day. Basically, 1/2 of a TL806Q. Also makes a great guitar speaker cab with extended lows, (great with...

Re: New build TL806 loaded with VIntage EVM12L and EVI12L

The TL cabs are great! Years ago, I built my wife a TL606 cab to have a more portable bass rig. We were invited to a halloween jam, and were asked to supply a bass rig, so we brought the TL606, and a CV BG-250 head. A bass player friend chewed me out for not bringing a "real" bass rig, until after h...
