That killed me, Andy!

I feel for you, Mark(?), but Andy hit the nail on the head. It could always be worse. Knowing that is what usually gets me through the tough times.

Just think, you could be a shrimp boat captain down in the Gulf!

Re: Dumble 70's problems Need help

Did you try reversing the leads from the power tubes to the output transformer? You can test to see if this is the problem before switching the leads by temporarily disconnecting the NFB (the 3k9 resistor between the output jack and the phase inverter). If this solves the problem, you need to switch...

Re: 6G16 Reverb vs. AB763

Doug, welcome and thanks for responding to my post. I want to try verb in my next amp build. It seems the AB763 verb circuit is fairly ubiquitous. I just wanted to explore some alternatives. Check out the Chris Isaak/Wicked game clip for a great verb sound. Me likes Bumblebee twist too. Nice! Bumble...

Re: Ceriatone bassman small parts kit

With the cost of shipping these days, a kit can make good sense. It depends on the quality of the parts and how particular you are.

Your thread title says 'Ceriatone', but your link is to 'Mojotone'.

Re: 5F6A Capacitor question

Here's a good explanation on why they went to standardized values: Real capacitor values (the E3 and E6 series) You may have noticed that capacitors are not available with every possible value, for example 22µF and 47µF are readily available, but 25µF and 50µF are not! Why is this? Imagine that you...

Re: 5F6A Capacitor question

250uF is a 'historic' or traditional value. The modern equivalent would be 220uF, which is a standard value. You often see values on older schematics such as 500pF, 5uF, 25uF, etc. The cap values have been standardized and the modern equivalents would be 510pF (or 470pF), 4.7uF, 22uF, etc.

6G16 Reverb vs. AB763

Anybody have experience or opinions on the different reverb mixers - 6G16 vs. AB763? It looks like the reverb circuit is mostly the same. The only difference seems to be the .02uF/470k versus the 3M3/10pF mixer and the AB763 has the additional 220k to ground. I'm considering a Fender-type build and ...

You've got too much tube data rolling around in that cranium.

I found one other site that has an uploader, allows hotlinking, and doesn't require registration if you can't find your Soundclick info.

Re: posting mp3 ?

You just have to find some place to host the file and then provide a link to it. You might check out Soundclick. I've seen several of the members using them.

Re: Bassman AB165 Advice

The old Fender boards were made from a material they called 'fish paper'. They were prone to moisture absorption, especially in damp or humid conditions. Do a search for 'fish' and 'moisture' and you'll find some discussion on the topic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fishpaper http://www.oliner.com/f...

I enjoyed this post by Henry:

He made a valiant effort to kick off some discussion on tweaks for the various sections of these amps. Nobody picked up the ball, however.

Ok, Darren and David, what's the name of the stuff that smells like rotting corpses... Cadaverine. They use it to train cadaver dogs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadaverine I feel for you, Andy.
