I'm using this nifty multi matching transformer from OEP in UK for all reverb drivers in my own amps as well as service replacement:

Re: What causes 150 Hz feedback ?
Q: is it 150 or 130 or maybe 170Hz? I'm asking because this could have nothing to do with 50Hz mains. Sounds to me like mechanical coupling between loudspeaker and any or several elements in the amp. This often results in feedback at loudspeaker's resonance frequency or it's 2nd or 3rd harmonic. I j...

Re: Solen Lytics
Q.E.D. is an initialism of the Latin phrase quod erat demonstrandum,
meaning "which had to be demonstrated".
BTW I don't mix dairy products and meat so I'll pass on the DQ, but thanks for info and warning

Re: Solen Lytics
Without telling at what frequency this complex capacitor has a resonant peak, Q is just a meaningless symbol without context. Sure, same really could be said for impedance (AC resistance) in guitar amps..We generally discuss these types of things in general guitar amp context...If I read your post ...

Re: Solen Lytics
One reason is to be found in what these are called. DC-link capacitors, developed specifically for ripple filtering duty. Solens are not since they don't say so explicitly. Solen 22uF/630V---ca 12$CAD EPCOS 20uF/630V--ca 15$US The difference? EPCOS specify which application these are made for, Sole...

Re: Solen Lytics
Film caps in cathode bypass duty up to 2.2uF at 5% tolerance or better as this is where all important low end shelving equalization is set. -20%+50% on electrolytics in these positions can make or break low to low mid response. Also, large variations in cathode bypass caps between two otherwise almo...

Re: Metcal Soldering / Rework station, help needed from the Pros
That's great! Yep, these guns are phenomenal.
I have sent my old soldering irons to the recycling station after I got my Thermaltronics.
Note that many Thermaltronics tips will fit a Metcal, check for equivalents on their website. They're cheaper and work just as well. Buy off ebay.

Re: Metcal Soldering / Rework station, help needed from the Pros
http://www.testequipmentdepot.com/metcal/soldering-hand-pieces/mx-ds1.htm If this is the desoldering piece you got then it will melt the solder in the eyelet but I'm afraid it may not be able to suck up all of the melted solder. As it says in the link, it's for PCB double sided plated through hole c...

Re: High Voltage Follies
Just draw the preamp & PI supply chain from B2+ instead. A few mA extra draw there won't make a big difference.

Re: weirdo tubes amp
I wouldn't worry about bias voltages or even B+ flash over causing input transformer isolation breakdown. An ESD pulse directly into the input from human body charged to 10kV by walking in rubber soled shoes an a dry synthetic carpet can cause some damages. Such scenario is theoretically possible. I...

Re: weirdo tubes amp
How about an ECF80 or 82 in the first socket. Use the triode as low gain input stage DC coupled straight to pentode split load splitter. No weird supply voltages, no extra sockets and some extra sensitivity at the input.

The whole GZS-series on this page http://www.mableaudio.com/en/products-36.html
Like I said, looks like Belton, they don't market them as such but inexperienced buyer can be easily fooled by the looks.

Re: OT prices! SHORT RANT!
I haven't dealt with Mableaudio BUT have seen same product photos on a couple other Chinese webshop. So I'm curious as to which of them is the source. BTW Noval tube sockets on that site that look like Benton - aren't.
