Re: eBay listing
Thanks for the replies so far. It's funny...you CAN'T say "like a... or better than a...." I know ...they shut down one of my listings recently cause I said (in the title) .018uF mustards were like .022uF mustards. They removed it...you can NOT say those words in the title but you can in the descrip...

eBay listing
Hey all, When trying to list a trainwreck clone on eBay, what is allowed and what is not. I know that you cant show any logos or registered trademarks...or say (in the title) "same as, not, good as, better than....." but can we say "Trainwreck" in either the title or description? Can we say trainwre...

Re: EL-84 recommendations
I dont know if they're still available but those OLD Russian military 6n14nEB (or 6p14pEB...the n is actually the Russian symbol for pi) are REALLY good and DURABLE. AND...you can get them for a head of cabbage. I have a few EL84 amps (no EL84 wrecks) and I have ALL kinds of NOS, OS, and some NP tub...

Re: Current Production Tube Compliment?
Finally something I can relate to!!!....I'm a machinist. I've been hanging around here for a while now TRYING to relate to all the "over my head" amp talk and now people are speaking my language. Oh...before I forget...the shugs are the Shuguang labelled EL34Bs. Their latest ones are the good ones. ...

Re: Who built this??? NEW pics added
See what I mean??? Nothing here but NICE, HELPFUL discussion. Call it what you want...discussion, debate, argument....I agree 100%. That's how you learn stuff. My "one who wins ALL DISCUSSIONS" thinks I'm arguing with people all the time. I say no, I'm learning. for example...if someone says "I have...

Re: Who built this??? NEW pics added
I gotta say, this is one GREAT forum. I've been a member at pp for years and years and I love that place too. Metroamp and 18watt too. I think the core membership here might be the most hardcore and experienced out there. Not just that but you guys are just "nice". PP has somewhat of a corksniffer r...

Re: Who built this??? NEW pics added
Well I've heard (at forums) that the crossover notch method or whatever you call it isnt a real musical way to bias. It just seems to me that all these old guys and electronics techs are not tone chasing, corksniffing, gearheads. From what I see in a lot of amps, these techs dont really use the most...

Re: Who built this??? NEW pics added
Well....I cant get a resistor in this stupid town. Going to the big city today though...if something's not too far out of the way... When I measured that resistor I got retarded numbers...cant remember exactly right now but the DC voltage was WAY higher than 2 or 4 volts. Even if I FIND a resistor t...

Re: Who built this??? NEW pics added
I was just joking when I said I almost electrocuted myself. I ALWAYS...ALWAYS drain caps before doing ANY work on an amp and if it has to be on, I ALWAYS use ONE hand. I can do repairs if the problem is visibly obvious like a burnt resistor or a bad cap or something. I've done capjobs on some of my ...

Re: Who built this??? NEW pics added
lol...really though...I AM safe. I've been messing with this stuff for a lot of years. I've done a lot of FUSSY stuff on PCBs too. Nope...no worries with the soldering skills or the safety aspect. I know how to "operate" a meter...just dont know what the symbols mean...just like on a schematic. No o...

Re: Who built this??? NEW pics added
I may have said I was stupid but did I say just HOW stupid? I almost electrocuted myself!..JUST KIDDING...NO fireworks. lol. BUT....I dont know how to work my meter. I dont know which little symbol means AC and which means DC. I'm assuming that the side that goes to mV is the DC side. Anyway, I incl...

Re: Who built this??? NEW pics added
The soldering iron scarred caps might be damaged, might not be working at their marked values. One guess about the smaller circuitboard on the back; does it have DC heaters on the preamp tubes? From the description it sounded like that was a regulated DCpower supply. Another thought, could this hav...
