As I recall, although I may be wrong , but I think #183 was biased on the cold side.

All you need is to build yourself a simple device like this. Works great.

Re: SSS005 Hi and Low Filters
I prefer mine to decease highs as I turn cw on the dial. Filter to me at least means to remove something unwanted.
Having said that, I was watching a youtube vid. of Bludo's High Plains Drifter, and it seems to me that more highs were added as the dial was rotated cw.

Re: SSS Cathode Follower and Bias Voltage in a 50W Fender Bassman Converted to Vibroverb
Thanks for all of the input everybody, very appreciated. I have converted the rest of the circuit so it has gone from a 1968 silver faced 50W Bassman (it was screwed up, somebody modded it before me) to a Vibroverb/Bassman to a full 002 build attempt now, using the "May Contain Errors" schematic (u...

Check your 27k dropping string resistor to make sure it's not 2.7k.

I'm glad you mentioned that the bias will change.sergio wrote:Take in mind you will be always in Class AB2 with that CF dc coupled , with bot AX and AT type.
I used AT for an experiment and I like it. Bias resistors value changed also!!

Re: SSS #002 build
I used a single layer 7 position switch on my filters. I notice Mhartman and Aaron used 2 layer switches. is that a problem? I set my variac to 102 VAC according to hand drawn schematic and all my voltages were almost right to spec. except V1 which was about 25 VDC too high. So I replaced the 1k dro...

SSS #002 build
Here's a few shots of my latest build. I've been working on and off on this project for the last 2 years, it ended up being quite an undertaking, with many hours put into it. Sounds great. Reverb is very nice. The only issue concerning me is the filter section. The low section as far as I can hear d...

Re: Robben Ford concert
I've compared a BB preamp and a Timmy pedal and I prefer the Timmy for transparency and function. It allows me to be able to cut either bass or treble and add just a touch of OD. (or more if I choose). For me the Timmy, worked very well when used with a "clean" amp.

Sounds great!
I found the low filter on mine to be quite subtle also.
I'll be posting pics of my SSS 002 soon.
