Hi Tom,
If I recall correctly you have a switch for high, low or no LNFB, does changing this have any effect on what you are experiencing?

Re: KT-88 Non-HRM Clip
The amp originally was a Traynor YBA 1 so the transformers are 100w but the chassis only had room for 2 power tubes I used the 88's since a pair would give me roughly 80 watts @ 500v.. HRM is an abbreviation for Hot Rubber Monkey which refers to a separate tone stack placed between the first and se...

Re: Nashville Flood
yes, in Los Angeles there are several cartage companies that house your gear and bring it from session to session as you request. Many rehearsal studios are independent of this service.Structo wrote:Is this a common thing?
Like, is there a place in LA where the rock musicians rehearse and store all their gear

Re: Velvet tolex
There is some talk about it here http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10479 as well as some reference to a source or two.

Re: Dumbleator Cap Voltage Ratings
47 is correct, there are some schems around with errors, this recent thread shows a good schematic I believe:http://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=46373#46373TheHandsomeOrk wrote:Is the bypass cap 47uf or 4.7uF? 47uF seems large on a 12ax7.

Re: tantalum for bypass?
Not trying to argue about something I know nothing about but regarding the reference to "cheapest", in checking Mouser I find the best price on an electrolytic in the $ .25 - $ .33 range http://mouser.com/Passive-Components/Capacitors/Aluminum-Electrolytic-Capacitors/Aluminum-Electrolytic-Capacitors...

well, that pretty much clears it up, thanks.
just thought I had heard of it long time ago. mistaken about the Fenders also.

tantalum for bypass?
would these be just as good as electrolytic? only longer lasting, i.e. normally never needing replacement (unlike electrolytic). would there be a noticeable different sound? I would think not. Anyone tried/using these? any experience? I think later silver face Fenders use them (white solid material ...

Re: Volume Pedal Advice
Ernie Ball do two different pedals, one for standard passive use and the other for active circuits - any idea which would work better in loop return? I use the standard (old) large style EB pedal, it has a 250K pot. If the other one you referred to has a larger value it may work better in the loop....

Thanks for the responses. Yes, it seems that the series resistor will slightly reduce the highs. Not something I need, I'll ignore it.

101 schem-component Q?
In the 101 schem (non-HRM) there is a 100K resistor from the wiper of the Master to the Preamp Out jack. Is this essential and considered authentic, or a possible tweek (optional)? I don't remember seeing it on layouts posted. I did not include this in my amp, I think because I did not determine whe...

Re: Comparison of Fender iron tone VS Music Man iron tone
Unless I'm mistaken, no pot is "30% linear" that is contradictory. Linear would indicate not tapered so when the pot is at the half way point, it would measure 50% of it's total value, refering to the measurment between the middle and left lugs(viewing from the back in the mounting position usually ...

Re: Dumble direction for Strat
I think he means you could have your switch just add (parallel) the .05 across the .01. This would give you the two positions .01 (always in circuit), or +.05 = .06 total. Could be done with a SPST.

Re: ODS Amps and Tone Shaping
In one section it talks about the local feedback loop on V1b and states: In the Skyliner design the local feedback loop has been eliminated, possibly to maximize the signal level from the two Clean stages. I wasn't aware that the Skyliner circuit eliminated this loop. Is this true? What affect to t...
